Chaos at Fantasmic! When a Firework Aims at the Audience
Guests were not prepared for this scary, immersive experience while watching Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

One thing that sets Disney Parks apart from other Theme Parks is the amazing entertainment. Every night, guests at Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT can enjoy amazing shows as the sun sets.
The nighttime show Fantasmic! is a story where Mickey is transported into a dream. He dances along with music, lighting effects, and pyrotechnics. Various characters and scenes from popular Disney movies are part of the sequence as well.
Since it first debuted in 1998 at what was then MGM Studios, it has seen many changes throughout the years. The most recent big change was in 2022 when it finally reopened with new scenes.
Fantasmic! Changes
There are many moving parts with Disney's Hollywood Studios Fantasmic! It is not uncommon for the show to unexpectedly pause or be canceled completely to ensure safety for all performers.
Disney will often make this announcement: "This performance of Fantasmic! has been stopped. We hope to continue the show if circumstances permit, and we will update you as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
We recently shared a surprise ending for Fantasmic!, which we loved. However, last night, July 9, 2026, Guests experienced the truly unexpected.
Fantasmic! Firework Misfire
A guest, Pajamaetchi, shared a video on Reddit of the finale of Fantasmic! As fireworks begin to light up the night sky, one firework misfires and is directed right at the audience.
On July 9, 2026, a firework misfired towards the audience of Fantasmic!.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the audience last night. No doubt, this was scarier than the nightmares that Sorcerer Mickey faced throughout this nighttime show. Disney has not made an announcement regarding this incident.
