The Disney World Permit That Has Us Worried

While we never really like the news of a refurbishment, this one has us concerned. Find out how this may affect your next trip to Walt Disney World.

Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons.

Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may take a few days or several months. Although refurbishments occur throughout the year, Walt Disney World tends to begin many refurbishments in the slower months of January and February.

We often follow Walt Disney World work permits to predict when a refurbishment may be announced throughout the parks.

Tree of Life Safety Netting

For several months in 2025, a portion of the Tree of Life was closed off as "It's Tough To Be a Bug" was rethemed to "Zootopia Better Zoogether." When the attraction finally opened, we noticed overhead safety netting.

We suspected that the safety netting might have been added with a possible Tree of Life refurbishment. It has been a few years since the last Tree of Life refurbishment.

This added safety netting could help keep guests safe during the refurbishment process.

Tree of Life New Permit

Walt Disney World just filed a permit for the land in front of the Tree of Life. The contractor for this project is Buena Vista Construction Company. This is the company often used to complete general projects across Walt Disney World.

While this permit does not describe the full extent, it describes the work as "providing labor, material, and/or electrical for construction." We do get concerned when work is announced around the Tree of Life because this can affect many areas.

For example, when the Tree of Life received a huge refurbishment in January 2023, this closed many of the walking trails located around it. Disney has not yet announced a date or full details of this planned refurbishment.
