While several Walt Disney World Parks have BIG expansion projects, one of the biggest changes will take place at Disney's Animal Kingdom. With former DinoLand now behind construction walls, this park is a bit of a mess.

Yesterday, May 26, 2026, was opening day for "Bluey's Wild World". This highly anticipated attraction will utilize a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app. Check out full details to secure your Virtual Queue HERE.

The virtual queue will include the entire experience- the Wildlife Express Train, Bluey's Wild World, Animal Care Experiences at Conservation Station, and Jumping Junction.

Wilderness Explorer Program

Now another change comes to the Wilderness Explorer Program at Disney's Animal Kingdom. In an effort to encourage curiosity and adventure, Disney's Animal Kingdom developed the Wilderness Explorers program.

This is inspired by Pixar's film, Up, and allows Guests both young and the young at heart to visit various locations throughout the park to learn about animals, conservation, plant life, and animal nutrition.

Now that access to Conservation Station requires a Virtual Queue, this will prevent the majority of Disney's Animal Kingdom Guests from completing the Wilderness Explorer Program.

There are two Wilderness Explorer checkpoints at Conservation Station. Guests can earn the following badges:

  • Animal Nutrition Badge
  • Veterinary Badge
  • Recycling Badge
  • Conservation Badge
  • Habitat Badge
  • Handwashing Badge

This is disappointing for Wilderness Explorers who simply want to complete the entire Wilderness Explorer program. You can check out our full review of this program HERE.
