One reason many families love to visit the Disney Parks is that there are multiple attractions for people of all ages. Whether guests prefer thrill rides or gentle experiences, there is something for everyone!

Walt Disney dreamed of creating a park where parents and children could enjoy the attractions together. For many Disney attractions, families can enjoy attractions together even with the youngest Disney guests in tow.

For safety reasons, some attractions have height requirements to keep all Guests safe.

Today, Walt Disney World revealed that when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens, the height requirement will change.

Previously the height requirement was 40". This will now change for a minimum height requirement of 38". This is great for young Disney fans.

We were not expecting this change. For example, when Splash Mountain changed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure, the height requirement stayed the same.

Today, Disney shared that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will officially reopen on May 3, 2026, at Magic Kingdom. Check out details of a possible "soft opening" for this attraction HERE.
