Disappointing Change for Disney's Disability Access Service

Today, Disney fans hoped the Walt Disney Company would address concerns with the Disney Disability Access Service. Find out why this is a big setback for fans.

Disney Parks received much backlash when it made BIG changes to the Disability Access Service (DAS) in April 2024.

The service became much more restrictive, significantly limiting which guests could use the DAS return time system. And, changes happened to the service itself, which included both eliminating pre-selected attractions and mandating a time period of 10 minutes between redeeming one selection and making another selection.

Disney reasoned that the restrictions were a way to cut down on abuse and overuse of the system. However, many critics of the new policy claim the system now results in denials and prevents access to some guests with legitimate disabilities.

Disney's DAS received negative headlines back in 2025 when "shareholders requested that Disney commission an independent review, conducted by a qualified third party of the company's DAS program."(DAS Shareholder Resolution).

This review would not make operational changes, but rather provide an impartial review and share transparent findings with Disney Shareholders.

Disney Shareholders were allowed to vote on this today for the Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Previously, the Walt Disney Company encouraged Shareholders: "The Board recommends that you vote "AGAINST" this proposal, and if the proposal is presented, your proxy will be voted against this proposal unless you specify otherwise."

Today, during the Annual Meeting of Shareholders, the motion for an independent DAS Review was presented with the heartfelt urging of how these changes affect Guests with disabilities visiting the Disney Parks.

Sadly, this did not pass today, with only 5% of total votes. This seems like another hard hit for DAS and for Disney Guests.
