There is nothing like that moment you first catch a glimpse of Cinderella Castle coming into view on Main Street U.S.A. in Walt Disney World. Similarly, there is nothing like that last glance before you head home from the magic, either.

Cinderella Castle has been filling dreamers of all ages with wonder for more than 50 years! Surely it is one of the most photographed icons in the world!

Disney keeps Cinderella Castle looking picture-perfect from any perspective. And part of the magic has to do with the care that goes into paint colors and design details.

Over the years, the castle has gone through several looks. Perhaps one of the most memorable is the Cake Castle for the occasion of celebrating Walt Disney World's 25th anniversary.

Many fans also remember when Stitch pranked park guests by rolling the castle. And, of course, fans will remember when Disney decided to make it pink for the 50th anniversary.

This was my (Donna) favorite look for Cinderella Castle. Disney seemed to agree and kept this pink color scheme for several years after the 50th anniversary decorations were removed.

Cinderella Castle Repainting

Last August, Disney shared that the castle will return to the classic grays, creams, and blues reminiscent of its classic look, complete with touches of gold!

Cinderella Castle refurbishment begins in January 2026.

Today, it is confirmed that the Cinderella Castle transformation will begin next month, in January 2026. As with previous refurbishments, this will bring unwelcome changes to Cinderella Castle, such as a large crane and the draining of the castle moat.

Disney shares that cranes will be out of sight by noon each day.
