Your Next Disney Trip Could Cost You More
A new fee could be added to your next Disney trip. Find out if this change will impact you.
Real ID

After almost two decades, the government is now enforcing the Real ID. Back in 2005, Congress passed the REAL ID Act. This was done due to the 9/11 Commission's recommendation.
On May 7th, TSA and other federal agencies began only accepting IDs that meet the Real ID requirements and state-issued Driver's license. Travelers can still use an enhanced driver's license, passport, or passport card. For the full list of accepted IDs read HERE.

New Fee

Yesterday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) shared that passengers who want to fly, but do not have an acceptable form of ID will encounter a fee. These passengers will use a TSA Confirm.ID, which is a modernized alternative identification system.
The cost to use TSA Confirm.ID is $45 and is good for a 10-day travel period.
The cost of TSA Confirm.ID covers the cost for verification of the person who has a noncompliant ID. This is also so the cost will come from the traveler and not be passed on to the taxpayer.
When Will This Go Live?

This new fee will begin on February 1, 2026 for those with noncompliant IDs. Travelers will have the option to pay for the TSA Confirm.ID online ahead of their travel, which is encouraged. Those traveling without a REAL ID can anticipate higher wait times at TSA security checkpoints.
Those without a REAL ID wanting to fly beginning February 1, 2026 will need to pay a $45 fee.
Fortunately, more than 94% of travelers already use a REAL ID or another accepted form of identification.
