Great New Change for EPCOT's Park Opening

EPCOT just made a change to its park opening. This will make you want to get to the park early to enjoy this new addition.

EPCOT, the acronym, was coined by Walt Disney in 1966. Standing for "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow." To this day, it's clear that two words in that acronym are still of huge importance: "community" and "tomorrow".

Unfortunately, Walt Disney passed away before they even broke ground for EPCOT. The vision of Walt Disney is still interwoven into the heart of EPCOT.

In 2023, the statue, "Walt the Dreamer" debuted at EPCOT. The featured plaque states, "Walt Disney said that EPCOT should always be in a state of becoming. He wanted to create a space that inspires people to keep dreaming of the future and celebrate the magic of possibility."

Yesterday, November 28, 2025, marked the official start of EPCOT's International Festival of the Holidays. Guests were delighted when they heard a familiar voice during the park opening.

The voice of Walt Disney welcomed guests as they roamed throughout EPCOT.

"The heart of everything we'll be doing in Disney World will be our Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow. We call it EPCOT!" Walt Disney.

Walt Disney Tribute

The opening announcement concludes with, "Walt Disney believed that imagination would lead humanity to achieve the impossible. EPCOT was built on that dream-a celebration of our world and its promise."

A new opening announcement at EPCOT serves as tribute to Walt Disney.

"Today, we invite you to share that celebration and hope that you, too, will be inspired by the magic of possibility. For your safety, please walk to your destination. Thank you, and enjoy the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays."
