It's D23 weekend at Walt Disney World. And that means we are getting plenty of theme park updates.

Disney just announced a HUGE update for a classic Magic Kingdom attraction. We know that the Magic Kingdom is currently under construction, and we are losing two classics, Tom Sawyer's Island and Rivers of America, to make room for Piston Peak, a Car's Cars-themed area.

However, we are happy to report that at least one classic attraction is safe. However, it will receive a much-needed update.

Carousel of Progress is one of the remaining attractions created by Walt Disney himself. The show has had more performances than any other stage show in the history of American theater and is a true piece of history. It has been rumored to be in serious need of a refurbishment, and many fans worried that the classic would meet a fate similar to Tom Sawyer's Island and Rivers of America.

Thankfully, when it closes, it will be for a refurbishment. It is receiving an update. It includes the addition of a brand-new Walt Disney animatronic!

The updated attraction's Walt Disney animatronic will be similar to the one in Disneyland. When Carousel of Progress reopens, there will be a new introductory scene where Walt Disney himself introduces the attraction. This is perhaps one of the most appropriate updates imaginable for an attraction.

We don't have refurbishment dates just yet. But, we can't wait to see what lies in the Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates!
