See the Creepy Malfunction That Magic Kingdom Guests Didn't Expect

After a recent refurbishment, Disney guests were not expecting this epic malfunction at the Magic Kingdom. Do you think more should be done to maintain current attractions?

With all of the wonderful technology incorporated in Disney World attractions, you are sure to have a magical time. From music and special effects to MagicBand+ interactions, Disney is working hard to create an immersive experience.

On the flip side of that, however, ride malfunctions are bound to happen. A wide variety of situations can occur. An attraction may completely stop and be evacuated. Certain elements may be omitted from the ride experience, and on one occasion, an arm was ripped off an animatronic.

Although the attraction didn't completely shut down, guests were a bit shocked while at the Magic Kingdom this week.

Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid is an omnimover attraction in Magic Kingdom. Board a clamshell and become part of Ariel's world as you experience scenes from the classic animated film.

This attraction recently closed for a short refurbishment back in July 2025. Now, guests are wondering if more time and attention should have been taken for this refurbishment.

@sistertravely.diary shared their experience going "Under the Sea" this week, and we are all wondering if Ariel is doing okay. Ariel typically swishes her tail and bobs her head as she dances to the music, but in the video (shared below), it appears that her head is stuck to one side, which didn't seem natural.

@sistertravel.diary I think the ride needs some fixing! AHAHHAHAA #magickingdom #littlemermaid #attractions #disneyworld ♬ original sound - Kendy

What to do if you experience a ride malfunction

A New Closing Timeline for Dinosaur

During a recent trip to Disney's Animal Kingdom, we were surprised when we tried to "catch that dino" aboard the DINOSAUR attraction, but there was no audio onboard our attraction vehicle. When we exited the attraction, we shared this with a Cast Member.

The Cast Member was very appreciative of us sharing the malfunction and quickly looked at our attraction photo to see which vehicle was malfunctioning. We were even offered another opportunity to ride DINOSAUR, and this time we were able to enjoy the full audio experience.

If you experience an attraction malfunction, share this with a Cast Member so magic can be restored for future guests.
