There is so much change on the horizon for The Magic Kingdom. Some attractions, including Tom Sawyer's Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat, are closing forever to make way for new Cars-themed rides. Disney announced that the last day for Guests to experience Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle will be July 6th. These attractions will close forever on July 7th!

But that isn't all. Several rides are being refurbished this year, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Thunder Mountain is expected to stay closed until April 2026.

Astro Orbitors has also been closed. However, we now have a reopening date for it, which you can see here. But, unfortunately, another refurbishment announcement dropped right on the heels of that reopening news.

A temporary closure is coming to Fantasyland. Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid is scheduled to close on July 21, 2025.

The popular ride, based on the Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid, is scheduled for refurbishment. This is a routine refurbishment.

In fact, it will not take long to complete. The ride will only be closed for a short time. Still, it is unfortunate timing if you have a late July trip planned.

If all goes according to plan, Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid will be down for less than a week. It is scheduled to reopen on July 26, 2025.

If any changes are made to the ride, they will be quick changes rather than major overhauls.
