Disney World Adds New Update for Big Thunder Mountain
After being closed for several months, Walt Disney World now offers an update for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Big Thunder Mountain Closure

A year-long refurbishment of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad began on January 6, 2025. Work will include moving the tower and replacing some or all of the tracks. The final scene may also be upgraded.
Back in June, we shared an updated look for a train engine for this attraction. Be sure to check this out HERE.
With work to continue through 2025, we get excited whenever Disney offers any update on this lengthy refurbishment.
New Scene for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Many wondered how all of the current and upcoming attractions would come together at Walt Disney World's Frontierland. With the previous addition of Tiana's Bayou Adventure and the promising new attractions of Piston Peak, this land seems quite different than first planned.
It appears that Walt Disney Imagineering is using Big Thunder Mountain Railroad's lengthy refurbishment to help explain how this attraction fits into the current Frontierland theme.
Yesterday, Disney shared a backstory for this attraction and the addition of a new show scene. You can check out full details HERE.
