Flying to Disney with Children Just got Easier
If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, and you are flying with small children, we have great news for you! Traveling just got a little easier!
Families on the Fly

According to the TSA, US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Noem recently announced the "Families on the Fly" campaign. This is a TSA initiative designed to enhance hospitality for families during the airport security screening experience.
In other words, the TSA is making it easier for families with small children to get through security. This could be great news for you, especially if you are using an airplane to travel home from Disney World or Disneyland!
Air travel is already stressful for many families. The initiative's goal is to alleviate the stress of getting through airports.
How the TSA is making Air Travel Easier

The initiative supports family benefits such as dedicated family lanes at select airports and dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes for service members and their families. Discounted TSA PreCheck fees for families are also on the way! (Military personnel and civilian Department of Defense staff are already eligible for free TSA PreCheck).
Hopefully, the dedicated family security line will cut down on waits for families and provide them space to take their time working through the process. This great addition, combined with our tips for flying with children, could certainly make life easier.
Families on the Fly also pairs well with another recent airport security initiative when it comes to moving lines. The TSA already ended the "shoes off" policy. You can read more about it HERE.
What Airports are Participating

Families on the Fly has already been established at two airports. These are: Orlando International (MCO), which, of course, is the closest major airport to Disney World, and Charlotte-Douglas International (CLT).
Orlando International Airport already has a dedicated family lane.
Planned expansions will be coming to John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA), an airport convenient to Disneyland, and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. And the initiative is set to spread further to include Charleston International Airport (CHS), Jacksonville International (JAX), Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD), Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), and Tampa International Airport (TPA), with additional airports slated for addition in the coming months. And the intent is to spread to every airport someday.
Are you happy about the addition of dedicated security lines for families? What other changes do you think will help make air travel easier? Let us know. And, be sure to share the good news with friends and family who are traveling to Disney so they know to look for those lanes.
