Magic Kingdom Attraction Now Closed Even After Lengthy Refurbishment
Typically, Walt Disney World announces refurbishments and closures ahead of time, but this one took us by surprise. Find out which attraction is now closed off to guests and plan your next trip to Magic Kingdom.
Disney Refurbishments

Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons.
Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may take a few days or several months. Although refurbishments occur throughout the year, Walt Disney World tends to begin many refurbishments in the slower months of January and February.
What is even more puzzling is when an attraction finally reopens after a refurbishment and still experiences extended closures.
Tomorrowland Closure

Astro Orbiter is located in Tomorrowland at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park. It is a Dumbo-style spinner attraction that will whisk you high into the sky. The person in the front controls how high or low you fly.
The attraction closed for a multi-month refurbishment on January 13, 2025, and finally reopened on June 27th. Unfortunately, the reopening celebration was only temporary.
Astro Orbiter closed this past Sunday, June 13th, around 3:00 pm, and has not reopened since. At this time Disney Cast Members are unsure when the attraction may reopen.
When will Astro Orbiter Reopen?

Walt Disney World does still list operational hours for Astro Orbiter so it is not officially closed, but is still marked as a temporary closure. This gives guests some hope that the attraction may reopen soon.
Astro Orbiter has been closed since Sunday, July 13th
Walt Disney World reserves the right to change operational hours and close attractions and entertainment without advanced warning. It is wise to use both the My Disney Experience app and the Character Locator for updated wait times and temporary attraction closures.
Edited to Add: Astro Orbiter is now reopened to Guests.

I think it should remain closed until it is completely restored. They need to repair the spinning planets feature.
We miss that feature too! Hopefully, that will return soon.
