Planning a Walt Disney World vacation may be a bit stressful, especially when trying to find the perfect room. Thankfully, this is about to become much easier.
Disney World Resorts

One of the biggest decisions when planning your Walt Disney World Vacation is deciding where to stay. Walt Disney World has more than 25 Disney Resort hotels to choose from. Couple that choice with Disney Springs area resorts and countless off-property offerings within driving distance, and the choice can seem daunting.
However, once you decide to stay in the “Disney Bubble,” the choices are at least categorized by price point. Disney World offers Deluxe Resort, Moderate Resort, and Value Resort Options.
Many guests prefer a Moderate Resort that offers a bit more amenities without the deluxe price tag. Now there is another reason to love a Moderate Resort.
Choosing the Best Disney Room

Guests may prefer to book a Walt Disney World Resort room to be close to their favorite pool, easy access to dining, or a short walk to Disney transportation.
Disney just shared, “For 2026 bookings, to simplify room categories and to improve Guests’ check-in experience, we will be adjusting the names of some room categories at Disney Moderate Resorts.”
The main room categories moving forward are Standard Room, a Preferred Room, or a room with a king bed.” This will apply to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans: Riverside and French Quarter.
Disney Resort Changes 2026

As with other resorts, the Preferred Rooms will cost a little more, but will also be located closer to the resort lobby. Previously, the room descriptions listed resort views, which were a bit confusing for guests.
Simplified room categories are available for 2026 bookings.
The only exception will be at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside. They will continue to offer the “Royal Guest Room” classification in addition to the new room categories.
What do you think of these new room categories? Will this make Walt Disney World Resort planning easier? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
