If you are looking for a delicious breakfast to indulge in during your visit to Universal Orlando, we have a good one for you. Find out where you can find one of the most delightful breakfasts.
Breakfast in Universal Orlando
One thing that some visitors to Universal Orlando do not expect is just how many dining options there are! From quick-service meals to fine dining to club-level treats to snack kiosks, Universal has so much to offer guests.
And, there are plenty of breakfast offerings to go around! You can find quick and easy breakfasts at most of the hotels. In fact, every Universal hotel has a Starbucks!
However, some hotels offer delightful sit-down breakfasts. If you are someone who loves indulging in a full meal for breakfast or brunch, you simply must plan to try Trattoria del Porto during your visit.
Trattoria del Porto
Trattoria del Porto is a lovely sit-down restaurant that features seaside Italian cuisine with a modern twist. You will find it at Loews Portofino Bay, one of the most luxurious resort hotels in Universal Orlando.
Even if you are not staying at Portofino Bay, you can enjoy Trattoria del Porto. It is a boat ride away from the parks. Or you could walk there from the parks or some of the other hotels, and utilize the buses from CityWalk. Of course, ride share is always an option, too.
Reservations are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, you may not need a reservation to dine there if it is not peak season.
Seating
There is plenty of indoor seating at Trattoria del Porto. However, if you prefer there are often tables available outdoors overlooking the harbor. Construction may interfere with this, but it never hurts to ask if it is possible during your visit.
If you do have dinner there, you might even be able to time it to catch the nightly opera afterward! It is a treat indeed.
Breakfast Hours
We visited for a special breakfast. Breakfast is available from 7:00-11:00 on weekdays and from 7:00-12:00 on weekends.
This was perfect timing for my travel party since my son wanted to catch early entry at Volcano Bay that day. We had plenty of time to dine right at 7 and head to the water park afterward in time to beat the crowds.
The Menu
The breakfast menu at Trattoria del Porto has a bit of everything, and prices are in the $15-25 range. If you want items hot off the griddle, you can select from pancakes, Italian French toast, and Belgian waffles.
For something a little different, you can order smoked salmon antipasti or vegetable tofu scramble. The menu also offers fruits and cereals, pastries, and toast.
And of course, there are eggs served in multiple ways! Omelets, steak and eggs, scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, breakfast sandwiches, and specialty dishes all grace the menu.
The Buffet
Of course, if you cannot settle on one menu item, there is an extensive buffet where you can try just about everything! My family did not order off the menu but we did get to try most of the menu options by visiting the buffet.
Typically the buffet costs $32 per adult and $17 per child. If you really want to maximize the value you get out of it, you could eat a late breakfast so that works as a lunch as well and enjoy a snack to tide you over until dinner.
The buffet is set off in its own room, away from the seating. It is a spacious area that is clean and well-kept.
We found the same French Toast and pancakes that are available on the menu. There was also an array of toppings like syrup, butter, sprinkles, and M&Ms to dress them up with.
There were also plenty of fruits like strawberries, melon, and pineapple. Or if you enjoy fruit with yogurt, you could create a mini parfait.
Those looking for a lighter option will appreciate being able to put together a bit of an antipasto with smoked salmon, boiled egg, cured meat, and cheeses. There is even honeycomb, which is a delightful way to add a little sweetness to a meal.
Hot offerings included scrambled eggs and grits. There was also an oatmeal station with all the fixings.
Breakfast meats were also available. Choices included bacon as well as sausage.
We also appreciated having vegetables available. Spiced tomatoes, broccolini, and breakfast potatoes added some nice diversity to the meal.
If you would like a made-to-order omelet, it is included in the price of the buffet. There is a choice of a number of meats and vegetables to go inside.
There are plenty of Kellogg’s cereals in little boxes, each containing an individual serving size. You can enjoy them with milk.
Of course, there is also toast and bagels and such available. And there are also sweet pastries like chocolate croissants and danishes.
And, there were also plenty of juices and water. Coffee and tea also come with the meal.
The buffet costs $32 per adult and $17 per child.
Service
Even though we ordered off the buffet, we were met with fantastic service. Our server was friendly and attentive. He made sure we knew about everything on the buffet.
Even better, he took care of the omelet orders. He even brought over some honeycomb when he saw the children had not noticed it so that they could try it.
Our server also was very knowledgeable about the parks and the resort itself. With the amount of attention we received, we felt as if we were his only customers.
This is not typically our experience at buffet restaurants associated with theme parks. While we have not had frequently experienced bad service, buffets can often feel rushed or servers are continually occupied and need reminders to bring over drinks. But, at Trattoria del Porto, everything was just right!
Should You Go?
If you have the time and desire for a big breakfast with exceptional service during your Universal Orlando vacation, absolutely, yes, you should visit. The meal is very good!
If you arrive before check-in and don’t have park tickets to enjoy while you wait for your room, it is a great place to spend a meal! It would also make a wonderful check-out day meal to squeeze in just a little more Universal fun before you depart. And, of course, it would be perfect for a rest day if you want to sleep in and head to brunch on the way to the pool.
