It is a sad day for Universal Orlando fans. One of the park's last opening day attractions is closing.

Universal Studios Orlando opened June 7, 1990. Thirty-six years later, only a precious few opening-day attractions remain.

One of these attractions is E.T. Adventure. Another is Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show. The third is Animal Actors on Location, originally named Animal Actors Stage when it debuted.

Now Universal has announced that Animal Actors on Location will close forever. Another opening day attraction will vanish.

Why is Universal Closing Animal Actors

Over the years, many guests of Universal Studios in Orlando have delighted in Animal Actors. I bet that some of you, dear readers, even remember being called to the stage as a child to participate in the antics. It is a comedy show filled with fun animal demonstrations. Some of the actors have even appeared in popular films!

Every time I (Kate) visit Universal Studios, the show is a must-do for my family and me. And, every time we see the show, the theatre is at capacity or pretty close to it. So why would Universal close a show that holds 36 years of memories and still draws a crowd?

The answer is currently unclear. Universal has stated that news about what is to come will be released at a later date. We hope whatever comes next is something amazing (and that it isn't another attraction that relies mostly on screens).

When Will Animal Actors Close

If you want to see Animal Actors On Location one last time before it closes, you will have to hurry. The last ever performance is scheduled for November 2, 2026.

As of November 3, 2026, the attraction will be permanently closed. But it isn't just guests who will miss it. Surely Team Members will mis it as well.

Vice President Adam Kingsly stated, "Animal Actors holds a special place in the hearts of many Team Members and Guests. We are grateful for the legacy of this attraction and the Team Members who made it so special."
