The story of Moana takes place 3,000 years ago when legendary sailors explored the Pacific and its many islands. However, their voyages stopped for a millennium, and nobody knows why.
Moana is about a teenage girl who goes on an adventure to prove she’s a master wayfinder and save her people with the help of the demigod Maui.
According to a Nielsen report, Moana was the most-streamed movie in 2023. It debuted in 2016 and was released on Disney+ when it launched in 2019.
Moana Sequel
The Moana sequel takes place 3 years after her first voyage. In this new movie, Moana heads on another adventure to search for people beyond the shores of her home island, Motunui.
Disney confirmed that Dwane Johnson will return as Maui and Auli’i Cravalho will reprise her role as Moana.
Moana and Maui will explore the far seas of Oceania with new friends. I’m (Susan) hoping some of her animal pals from the first movie will return too.
