Nielsen just released the list of top streamed movies and programs of 2023. Several Disney titles made the cut, and Bluey ranked high on the list of programs. See the full list here and let us know if you streamed any of these titles in 2023!
Top Streamed Titles
Every year Nielsen releases the top streamed movies, programs, single telecasts, series, and more. The writer’s strike greatly affected the number of new content being released in 2023. However, current and previous programming continued to engaged audiences.
In 2023 alone, viewers streamed 21 million years’ worth of content! That’s not including live broadcasts and other programming. At the top of that list is Suits: a television series that ran from 2011 to 2019. Streamers viewed 57.7 billion minutes of the show on Netflix and Peacock.
Coming in behind Suits is none other than kid-favorite show Bluey! Streamed on Disney+, kids and families watched 43.9 billion minutes of the Australian-based show.
Other top titles include NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy, Cocomelon, the Big Bang Theory, and more.
Disney’s Top Titles
Where do Disney’s titles rank? The category of movies proves Disney movies are some of the most watched movies. Here is the full ranking with minutes viewed:
- Moana (11.6 billion)
- Encanto (9.7 billion)
- Super Mario Bros Movie (8.8 billion)
- Elemental (8.6 billion)
- Minions: The Rise of Gru (7.1 billion)
- Sing 2 (6.7 billion)
- Frozen (6.5 billion)
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (6.4 billion)
- Avatar: The Way of Water (6.4 billion)
- Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (6.3 billion)
I think Moana is interesting as the number 1 streamed movie in 2023. Moana debuted in 2016 and released to Disney+ way back in 2019 when the streaming platform debuted. The opening of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana in Epcot may have helped it make its way to the top.
Encanto continues to be a major hit for Disney, and while Elemental did not do to well originally when first released, it has slowly proven itself as a top Disney movie of the past year.
Original Streaming Titles
As far as top original streaming titles, the only Disney title to make that list was Madalorian. It ranked 8th on the list with 12.3 billion minutes.
Top titles in that category include Ted Lasso (16.9 B), The Night Agent (14.4 B), and Ginny & Georgia (13.8 B).
