More details have been revealed about meeting Moana at Walt Disney World.
Moana
Moana is beginning to make a bigger presence at Walt Disney World. EPCOT’s newest attraction, Journey of Water is opening in a little less than two weeks on October 16th. If you are a DVC Member or Annual Passholder, previews have been happening for the past couple of weeks. However, today is the final day for them!
To take a look at the attraction, be sure to check out this post HERE.
Meet and Greet
At this time, guests can meet Moana at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You can meet her in Discovery Island. Don’t forget that Character Locator has all of her times for when you can meet her listed.
Fans of Moana received some exciting news during D23 weekend. Not only did we find out the opening date for the new Moana attraction, we also found out about a surprise meet and greet! Disney announced that Moana would begin meeting guests at the Journey of Water attraction too in EPCOT.
Will Moana still meet at Animal Kingdom?
With the announcement of Moana meeting guests at EPCOT, you might wonder whether or not she will continue to meet with guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
According to Disney’s calendar, we can see that Moana still has meet and greet times listed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom past October 16th through the end of October.
Times are still shown as being:
- 9:30 -12:30 pm
- 2:30- 4:00 pm
Looking into November, no meet and greet times are shown, but this can definitely change as the month continues. For now, we are happy to see that guests will be able to meet with Moana at both places!

I hope if Moana eventually sails away from her spot at DAK, once her Epcot spot eventually opens, they could make plans to bring Pocahontas back to that spot from before 9/30/18(leaving her flotilla behind), bc the character meet selection at Animal Kingdom is soulless and empty thanks to those flotillas which don't serve a purpose in a post social distancing era other than guest feedback(I hope David Duffy(who was newly appointed to be VP for Entertainment at WDW) would eventually put an end to all the flotillas)
