The battle is on with tourism in Central Florida. As Universal sets to open Epic Universe in 2025, many have wondered how Disney will respond. Check out Disney CEO Bob Iger’s comeback.
Epic Universe
Epic Universe will have a theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants, and more. This Epic Universe will be made up of 5 different worlds, which are all connected through Celestial Park.
New lands will include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.
Many feel that Epic Universe will cause Universal Studios to become the premier vacation destination of Central Florida. Check out full details HERE.
Disney’s Response
During the Walt Disney Company Annual Meetings of Shareholders 2024, Bob Iger fielded a question about how Disney will respond to the opening of Epic Universe. Iger, quickly responded that “Disney has been aware of Universal’s plans for more than a decade.”
Bob Iger did not make a big announcement of Disney’s plans for expansion. Instead, he came from a different approach. Iger began listing all of the attractions that Walt Disney World has opened starting back to the Land of Pandora back in 2017.
Iger announced, “By staggering these major launches, we’ve been able to commercially and operationally optimize our new offerings over time rather than having to do it all at once.”
Is This Enough?
Many online commenters joke that Disney takes years to accomplish tasks that take mere months for other companies. The list of new attractions provided by Bob Iger was impressive over several years.
“By staggering these major launches, we’ve been able to commercially and operationally optimize our new offerings over time rather than having to do it all at once.”

The question remains are these new attractions over time as impressive as a whole new park as with Epic Universe? Interestingly, Iger did not take this opportunity to share the “Beyond Big Thunder” blue sky project that has been discussed before.
What do you think of Iger’s response? Do you think new attractions over time are enough to compete with Epic Universe? Share your thoughts on this and share this news with your Disney and Universal pals.

There's a lot of excitement for Epic Universe here in FL. I think it will definitely impact Disney World. I know many locals who are not happy with Disney's wokeness and their threat to go against the Parental Rights bill. They also lost many FL passholders when Chapek insulted them saying they don't spend enough in the parks.
Iger is right about the staggering of their attractions. They do it to keep people returning.

@Linda, I wonder if they are planning something behind the scenes.
