Disney promises Magic Kingdom expansion is happening!

Disney just announced more details about the “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion coming to the Magic Kingdom!

At LAST year’s D23 weekend, Disney made a pretty big announcement about what could happen with a potential Magic Kingdom expansion. This was considered a “blue sky” project. This means it’s something Disney is toying with but does not have any concrete plans for.

Although Disney has remained completely quiet since then, if they made an announcement about it, it’s likely that it’s in their plans. Disney wouldn’t just tease us like that without actually intending to work on a project like that. They even shared concept art last year (below)!

In that announcement last year, Disney teased three concepts: Coco, Encanto, and Villains. This potential Coco expansion will be set in Santa Cecilia, and the inhabitants will be celebrating Día de Muertos.

Beyond Big Thunder Mountain, we could also have another amazing new place to visit. Guests will be able to enter the world of Encanto! Mirabel will soon meet in Fantasyland, but a whole land would be so fun. Last but not least, one of the things that could lie beyond Big Thunder Mountain is a Villains Land.

New Details

Disney promises that they are working on this “Blue Sky” project! They are about go into “overdrive” here with lots of extra room for expansion.

Future expansion are the largest ever for the park, according to Bruce. It will be similar in scale to lands like like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Pandora – The World of Avatar.

They promise more attractions, restaurants, and shopping! This project is probably still a few years away, but we are hopeful to begin hearing more about this expansion in the coming months!
