January at Disney World
There is a lot going on at Disney World in January. One of the biggest days to look forward to is January 9th. On this day, the Disney Dining Plan returns and park reservations are no longer needed for date-based tickets, and restrictions on park hopping finally disappear!
While January is actually a pretty nice time to visit since crowds tend to be lower, it does also come along with several refurbishments. Just a few refurbishments happening at Walt Disney World can be read about HERE, HERE and HERE.
Before going on your trip, be sure to check the latest park hours because hours do change. There are a number of days this month with extended park hours, but there is one date that you will definitely want to know about if the Magic Kingdom is in your plans.
The Magic Kingdom will be closing early at 4:30 pm on January 29th for a Cast Member event. Many guests tend to avoid the Magic Kingdom if it closes early, but it can actually be a pretty magical day with fewer crowds!
Diamond Horseshoe
The Diamond Horseshoe is a restaurant in Liberty Square. The restaurant features an all-you-can-eat feast for lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy a Thanksgiving-style meal with a zesty salad and a platter with turkey, pot roast, mashed potatoes, and other delicious sides. Of course, we cannot forget about the Ooey Gooey toffee cake! If you are looking for a comfort meal, this is it!
If you have plans to visit the Diamond Horseshoe, you will want to know that is scheduled to be closed in January. Luckily, this is only a very brief closure. If you are disappointed in this closure, be sure to see if Walk-Up availability or reservations are available at Liberty Tree Tavern. You can enjoy the very same menu!

I would like to see Diamond Horseshoe return to its own menu. I love Liberty Tree Tavern but its appeal is in the theming. DH is more of a saloon and should have food more reminiscent of that.
