One Disney World Attraction is Closing for Refurbishment Soon

Refurbishments happen regularly at Walt Disney World. It’s not unusual for at least one attraction to be closed at any given time. Restaurants, hotels, and other areas of the property also require updates to ensure optimal guest enjoyment.

Refurbishments may be carried out for several reasons, including mechanical issues or cosmetic updates. The length of the refurbishment depends on the nature and scope of the work, ranging from a few days to several months.

Cooler Months

During the cooler winter months, only one water park is open at Disney – Blizzard Beach for December. However, the weather may not always be warm enough for swimming. If the temperature is less than 70 degrees, the water park will not open. We recently announced that Blizzard Beach closed for the day after being open for a few hours HERE.

Cold weather not only affects swimming but also water rides like Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The ride takes you through fast-moving rapids, waterfalls, and a raging current, before dropping you down a 20-foot slope! Disney warns that you’ll get splashed and possibly soaked on Kali River Rapids!

Refurbishment

Since fewer people visit Kali River Rapids in winter, it’s an excellent time to carry out maintenance on this popular attraction. Disney has announced that it will close for refurbishment again on January 8, 2024. If you plan to ride it soon, make sure to grab your poncho before that date.
