Haunted Mansion
Although Haunted Mansion was not an opening day attraction, it is a “must do” attraction on many Disney guest’s touring plans. The Haunted Mansion strikes an excellent balance of scare and humor. This helps even “scaredy cats” to enjoy this attraction.
This attraction combines the work of some of the best Disney Imagineers in the company’s history to create illusions and tricks that bring guests back again and again. Some of the attraction’s best tricks, like those in the ballroom scene, rely upon fairly old “technology” to create memorable illusions that still entertain guests every day!
Closing Date Set
This attraction has seen many changes over the years. At Walt Disney World, the “Hatbox Ghost” is now added. This raises the intriguing question if there are still just 999 ghosts or if the “Hatbox Ghost” now brings the count up to 1,000.
At Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion closes briefly every August to transform into a holiday overlay for both Halloween and Christmas. Jack Skellington and his crew from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas transform the Haunted Mansion.
This past August, we shared that a large expansion will be coming to Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion. This will include a larger outdoor queue, gardens, and a Madame Leota retail shop. Check out the concept art and more information for this expansion HERE.
At that time, we did not have a closing timeline announced for Haunted Mansion. Today, Disneyland shared that the Haunted Mansion will welcome its last guests on January 21, 2024.
Disneyland now lists Haunted Mansion as closed for refurbishment on January 22, 2024. This is fairly normal to remove the holiday overlay for this attraction.
When Disneyland first announced this expansion they shared that work would begin in January 2024. With Haunted Mansion closing for refurbishment in mid-January, it appears that this may be the date for this expansion as well.
Disneyland now lists Haunted Mansion as closed for refurbishment on January 22, 2024.
