Disney is usually able to give Guests ample time if a park is closing early or not opening at all. Unfortunately, they were not able to do so today and one expectedly closed early.
Early Closures
It is very important if you are planning a Disney World vacation to check for park hours. Disney releases the original calendar a little over 60 days in advance. Then, they may adjust hours by opening earlier or closing later so Guests have more times in the park.
But, sometimes the parks close early as well. This may happen with a seasonal event like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or an After Hours event. Other times, Cast Member events or park buy-outs mean a park may be closing as early as 4:30 pm.
Other times, the weather is at play.
Closed Today
During the cooler winter months, Disney only keeps one water park open. For December, that is Blizzard Beach. It just received some nice updates, and Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed.
And because the weather is not always ideal for swimming, Disney will periodically close the water park. Typically, if the high is going to be less than 70 degrees, the water park will not open.
Blizzard Beach did not open yesterday, December 11. However, it did open this morning, December 12, for a brief period. But it was just too cold to keep operating so Disney closed the park at 12:00 pm.
Right now, the rest of the week shows operating hours (10:00 am to 5:00 pm) for Blizzard Beach. That may change, and you should check the Disney calendar if you have plans to visit!
