Popular Character May Be Leaving Disney’s Animal Kingdom Soon

Meeting characters throughout the Disney Parks is a highlight for many guests. Find out which character may be leaving Disney’s Animal Kingdom soon.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is breathtaking, but on a touring plan, it has less to offer than the other Disney Parks. There are fewer attractions and fewer character meet and greets for guests to enjoy.

Of course, Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers nature trails, animal shows, and live entertainment that the other Walt Disney World Parks cannot offer. The bottom line is that we would like to see attractions and characters added to Animal Kingdom, rather than taken away.

Currently, the majority of characters are located at Dinoland USA with Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Chip & Dale all wearing their best Dino Bash costumes. As shared earlier Dinoland USA will soon be extinct, and these characters will be changing. More on this new project HERE.

Now it seems another character will be leaving quite soon from Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Moana

Typically, Moana is only out for special events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  On April 22nd, just in time for the 25th Anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Moana began to greet fellow voyagers on Discovery Island.

This was great news for this park! But, now it now seems as though Moana may soon be leaving Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Last weekend, Disney shared the opening date for the Moana-inspired attraction, Journey of Water, which will open soon at EPCOT. We were surprised when they announced that Moana would be meeting guests at this attraction as well.

At first, we were hopeful that she may greet guests at both Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT, but it now appears that this will not be the case.

When looking at times to meet Moana on Saturday, September 30th, we see both morning and afternoon times listed. Moving to Sunday, October 1st, there are no times available. At times, changes to character meeting times change. Be sure to check Character Locator for accurate locations and schedules for all your favorite characters.

However, with the new Moana meet and greet now announced, we think that Moana may greet her last guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Saturday, September 30th before she takes her somewhat permanent residence up at the Journey of Water attraction.
