Disney Issues a New Statement about the Spectrum Negotiations

Disney Issues a New Statement about the Spectrum Negotiations

As many of you know, Disney and Spectrum have been in ongoing negotiations. Here is the latest statement from Disney.

What Happened with Disney and Spectrum

This weekend, Spectrum subscribers were in for an abrupt and unwelcome surprise as every single Disney-owned channel went dark. These channels include ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, Disney Jr., FX, Freeform, National Geographic, and many more. In some cases, people experienced this in the middle of the US Open, an NCAA football game, or a movie. Others did not realize the issue was happening until the next morning when they went to turn on the television.

Needless to say, customers are not happy. Disney and Charter Communications are in an ongoing carriage dispute, and they failed to reach a negotiation. As a result, consumers are suffering. You can read more details and thoughts from both companies HERE.

Today (September 3, 2023), Disney issued a new statement pertaining to the matter. The statement is titled "Here's What You Need To Know About the Dispute Between Charter/Spectrum and Disney Entertainment." Part of the statement reads:

Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the biggest sports weekends of the year. Viewers sit down to watch the anticipated return of college football and enjoy the tennis battles at the US Open.

Unfortunately, for millions of Spectrum cable viewers this has not been the case this holiday weekend, since ESPN and other Disney-owned channels like ABC are blacked out due to a dispute between Spectrum's parent company-Charter Communications-and Disney Entertainment.

Disputes between cable companies and content providers aren't new. However, millions of consumers may find themselves perplexed and frustrated by what's going on.

It goes on to list statistics about the popularity of Disney programming and the value it has for consumers. However, the statement also makes an interesting point. "Although Charter claims that they value their customers, they declined Disney's offer to extend negotiations which would have kept Disney-owned networks up for consumers in the middle of perennial programming events like the US Open and college football."

Could it be that this whole thing could have been avoided in the fist place?

Disney also states that it hopes Charter will have more conversations that restore access to its customers. In the meantime, Disney encourages viewers to switch to one of the providers that currently offer its content.

Hopefully, negotiations will work in favor of the consumers very soon so that the disruption to the service they pay for can end. We will keep you updated here at Kennythepirate.com.

  1. Sign out of Disney because you probably signed in using "cable provider ID" sign back in using the Hulu credentials. I ran into that on Saturday and found it works.

  2. Spectrum is charging customers for a service that we are not receiving. Spectrum needs to think of your customers or your customers will find another way.

  3. An elderly couple that I know, subscribed to the Disney Plus with Hulu and ESPN attached. But they rigged the subscription so that you still can't watch ESPN live if you still have a Spectrum account. Sounds like false advertising to me. So I think that couple either needs a FULL refund, or for the ESPN live be turned on immediately for all who purchased that mainly for the live sports.
You always wonder who's the " bad guy ", being too greedy. This caper from Disney gives me my answer. Inflation alone is enough trouble to deal with right now.
Thanks allot Disney and Charter for holding sports fans hostage!

  4. Why Disney is doing this is because they’re going bankrupt for the same reason about bud light. Telling children and teaching children in school about this. I'm pissed off because I have been waiting to watch a couple shows that were coming on and I can’t

  5. Breech of agreement by both parties , left consumers out of the discussions. Poor management and consumer relations by both companies. I'll bet Walt is rolling over in his grave.

  6. If people think Disney or Spectrum cares about them they are delusional. Big companies only care about money. They all have gotten so big they believe they are above the law and can, and will do anything they want. Disney is the worst at this. To be quite honest for Disney to want to hear from the people about what’s going on is a total complete joke. Disney will keep charging more and more which will make us have to pay more and more. No company is going to pay a large amount to Disney, but not raise their prices to cover it. This is not a war between Disney and cable companies. It’s us being used as their bank roll. This situation will never change, because we do not stand together to fight it.

  7. My neighborhood has a bulk rate contract with Spectrum and ESPN is part of our cable contract. It cut off right in the middle of watching to US Open! How rude!!! I should not have to pay more money to stream from another Disney owned company! Disney is dead to me!

  8. I think Disney has become so greedy that Walt would roll over in his grave. Spectrum is trying to keep cost down. Unfortunately, company's like Disney and others keep raising theyre fees which get passed on to the consumers

  9. This is Disney's fault. Plain and simple. They have mismanaged their theme parks and made them unaffordable. Now they are extorting Spectrum and us and trying to cover it up. Nice try. Take your despicable business practices to another state. You will not be missed.

  10. Oh how i wish i could! The absolute only option i have for internet at my address is spectrum, believe me ive checked with so many other options, they just dont service my address. We need internet had hubs frequently works from home.
Did get a 21 day free trial for youtube tv so can watch espn. Hopefully they will have it figured out by then. I hate spectrum...lol

  11. Disney has made some very terrible decisions lately, and are obviously trying to recover their losses. They have turned one of this country's best companies into a shell of what they used to be.
There are several internet television providers that are much more reasonably priced than cable. I did away with cable for my primary residence with absolutely no regrets.

  12. First of they are both greedy.. Fisney has the thing with Hulu and they went up on that 3 times this year alone...Spectrum is just high as & where I live you gotta get spectrum because they have where I live under some kinda contract which I think we should be able to get whatever or whoever we want as far as cable....It's too much control & we the people should be in charge of what & when we want something because we pay out of our hard working pockets to make sure our families are comfortable.....If that's the case if you all want to pull channels & pick what neighborhood should have what then let the government pay for it....Ijs...Second I pay disney plus, hulu & ESPN & then I pay for the disney channels spectrum has so somebody is about to get sued....DISNEY IM.PRETTY SURE UR FAMILY ISNT MISSING ANY MEALS SO LEAVE IT THE WAY IT WAS OR YOU GONNNA HAVE SOMETHIBG BIGGER THAN SPECTRUM ON UR NECKS....#STOPTHEGREED

  13. Totally agree I have 2 Smart TV and T-Mobile Internet they tolme me I have to have their Internet to get all my channels but half of them are blacked out cause of Disney I pay almost 200 bucks and it sucks I hate spectrum

  14. Two 'billion dollar' public companies who have clearly demonstrated their allegiance is to their shareholders first and foremost. All this while the program user is held hostage, subject to paying higher rates and fees so both companies can keep their uber-rich executives living 'Hampton' like lifestyles. And while I am no fan of 'Spectrum' (I'll get to them in a moment) Disney's decision to arbitrarily 'pull the plug' on their programming without warning was unconscionable! They knew exactly what they were doing and what the fallout {from their decision} would be!! Bob Iger rears his ugly head, showing his true colors by his actions. This demonstrates clearly disdain and contempt for viewers, without whom Disney and and those who have aligned themselves with them, would be scraping by collecting a few less million than what they otherwise earn. Spectrum - and Charter Comm. by proxy - is no less culpable. They have been ripping off consumers for years; charging higher and higher fees, bilking customers with strong-arm tactics by offering programming plans that squeeze their customers' wallets and force them to choose to eat or to watch cable TV.
At the very least, Charter could have continued to make programming available for thirty days while they negotiated in good faith with Disney, thereby allowing for a cooling off of personal demands and grievances. The consumer then would not have, once again, been the unwitting stooge in this pathetic catfight between two callous conglomerates. I hope they both rue the day they sought fit to give the proverbial 'middle finger' to the very audience on which they depend. For it is we, the consumers, who subsidize their opulent lifestyles, yet are subjected to the whims of those who pull the strings.

  15. I didn't even know Disney was affiliated with Spectrum, I thought they were partnered with AT&T. I'm so frustrated that the powers that be, those at the top making all the monies, are so controlling. We're all still adapting to the aftermath of the pandemic. Everywhere we turn prices are going up, food, gas, utilities, now entertainment.. and they don't want to finalize deals with the writers, hotel workers, now all their customers?? It's too many selfish people with no compassion or concern for the average consumer.

I HATE the game they’re playing. I'm missing TV programming and, while everything is temporary, they're forcing me to 'let it go!' like their infamous Disney song! I'm done, will be canceling my services. No need in continuing to pay for services if I can't get my monies worth! What goes up must come down, we'll see how they like it when they're on the losing end.

  16. I agree Disney and spectrum needs to wake up U2 need to get an agreement on oh you guys are gonna lose more people watching this cause you took away everything make an agreement first thing tomorrow morning you guys are gonna make an agreement ASAP

  17. Ya got that right my bill jus went up $6 a month granted I have 3 boxes in the house but it shouldn't cost almost $200 for shitty channels (I have so few channels) so do we switch companies or does that even matter???

  18. I believe that Spectrum is acting in bad faith . Disney asked for continuing negotiation but Spectrum refused . I am cancelling Spectrum .

  19. Exactly. I paid for the ESPN /Disney Bundle. The least they could have done is let their customers aware. Trying to fin another Internet service so I can get youtube tv.

  20. I agree 100%!! I thought DirecTV rates were high but I guess Spectrum is trying to outdo em! If they don't give me a substantial decrease in my bill, guess I'll have to switch AGAIN!!

  21. HOPEFULLY THEY GET IT FIXED SOON BECAUSE DANCING WITH THE STARS AND ALL MY OTHER SHOWS ARE COMING BACK I REALLY WANT TO WATCH IT.

  22. I would like to see Disney and spectrum come Ronan agreement very quickly. I am paying for these services and don’t appreciate it taking so long.

  23. I am very mad at Disney for what they did. There is shows that I love to watch and now I can't. I don't know why Disney wants more money out of this. Stop paying the big shots a lot a money and they would have the money.

  24. I talked with a representive from Spectrum about a credit to my Spectrum cable account & they would only give a small fraction of what I pay per month to them . Spectrum cable is very greedie!

  25. Dump Cable and stream with YouTubeTV for 73 dollars a month. If you need fast internet use T-Mobile Home internet which is 50 dollars a month guaranteed not to go up. This is only 123 dollars a month and you have better service. Screw Disney tho .

  26. It's sad that we have two muti Billion dollar companies pointing fingers at each other.I don't care who's at fault in the end its all about getting more money from customers. It they got all they ask for from Disney,Spectrum will still find a way to go up on our monthly bills. Its just a game of who can make more money off of the customers.Just for blacking out my sports and Disney channels wild..I will cancel Spectrum internet..I had already cancelled out their cable and only stream a select number of channels for $29.00 dollars.both companies are greedy but spectrum has been talking with Disney over 2 years and they knew well ahead of the blackout what would happen if they stop talking with Disney.Never at one time did Spectrum warn its customers of the pending results for not talking with Disney. If they truely are looking out for the Customers they should've said from the start of negotiations under no circumstances should we black our paying customers out of the package they paid for.It should've been in their contract with Disney from the start two years ago.but no they were only focus on what they could get out of Disney.I didn't have a contract with Disney I had it with Spectrum who billed me one month ahead for services.

  27. Spectrum requested a contract extension for continued talks, DISNEY said no and pulled the plug.
Spectrum is ready to pay the blackmailers, but in exchange, they want their subscribers to have free access to the ad supporters version of Disney Plus, on the grounds that since the subscribers were paying for the Disney content, they deserve access to all of it without paying extra. Similar to the agreement with HBO that allows Spectrum subscribers with HBO as part of their package to have free access to HBO MAX.
IMHO , Disney is making another money grab to try to make up the money losses they're have suffered from all their other bad decisions.

  28. Greed. Seniors on a very small income cannot pay more. Is there anyone out there who knows how to get us ESPN back? Will spectrum lower our price now? Hell to the no.

  29. Sure Disney offered but for a price that is crazy. If Charter accepts then the consumers will get another price increase. Disney is trying to recoup some of the money they've lost with Netflix.

  30. I think your wasting your time giving any kind of comment because the only people who listen are CEO’s and stockholders. The same in any business it’s not a people business it’s about the money. I hope both go broke but that’s not going to happen neither so find another way to enjoy yourself. If you could get everyone to stop service or guit paying the prices for Disney charges it might effect them but that’s an impossible feat also so life goes on.

  31. Obviously you didn’t read the article because it clearly says Disney did offer to keep programming on during negotiations and Spectrum refused. But what’s more disappointing is your belief that woke or LGBTQ has anything to do with it.

  32. Spectrum Disney it doesn’t matter about the money you should be careful of the subscribers And make an agreement please cause this is sad not only you’re losing money you’re also losing subscribers in spectrum customers can you guys just make an agreement deal already it doesn’t matter about the money it’s supposed to be for happiness for people around the world

  33. Spectrum has always been terrible to reach and give appropriate help to its customers. Now they are holding us as hostage in a money game.

  34. It's not just disney it's not just spectrum programming in general and every one wants their piece of the pie as long as we all pay for the shit... i don't even watch tv any more i don't b care about Any of it.

  35. Make sure you don`t get DISH. The worst cable company on this planet. If you want to find out what channels you have, turn on TV guide because they are definitely not going to give you advance notice.

  36. Zero ads none - zip zero zilch is how many ads cable had when we signed on. IF YOU THINK THATS WHY WE BOUGHT CABLE YOU ARE RIGHT. -NO ADS….. You suckers don’t BOYCOTT???

  37. Such crap, pay a crap ton of money for cable and don’t get half our channels, Disney is an expensive like they need more money come on now.

  38. There must be a compromise. Spectrum apparently wanted to decrease subscriber requirements in there agreement. That actually makes sense, as it has reportedly lost nearly 30K subscribers. Spectrum also indicated it has subscribers that do not want to pay for sports channels. That also makes sense. You either watch sports or you don't. Subscribers should not have to pay for expensive sporting events and programming they are not going to watch. Spectrum want to offer smaller packages to those viewers. Why not? Conversely, there are those that may only want local channels and an extended sports package. Disney instead wanted more.

  39. I think this is bull crap on both sides. Spectrum can be irritating and seems to go up every month. Disney is woke and I don’t like Disney. Both sides need to get this done very soon. Football is here and wild card for baseball will start soon. It is always about money not the customer.

  40. Spectrum and Disney are corporate bullys and to just do that without any warning sucks. Disney offered to keep it on while they negotiate, but Spectrum said no. Spectrum sucks as I already pay $300 a month for cable and internet. I want my bill reduced the amount I pay for Disney and especially espn.

  41. Come on grow up Disney. Let us watch the channels while you negotiate! You’re the ones the decided to go woke and lgbtq. Now you’re paying the price and sticking to the rest of us! We will never go to Disney ever again for your stupid decisions listening to the few instead of the majority!!!

  42. I agreement with everyone that Dinsey just be greedy .I dont know have they say they are not make money .with all sport pay them alot money to have sport on tv.

  43. I'VE HAD CABLE FOR YEARS!!! BIG FAN OF FOOTBALL! VERY UPSET IN WHAT IS GOING ON! WHEN YOU ARE ON A FIXED INCOME , THESE COMPANIES DON'T CARE ABOUT THE COST, BECAUSE THEY HAVE YOU HOOKED! HOPE THIS GETS RESOLVED SOON!!! SO SAD! THIS IS A VERY GREEDY SITUATION ON BOTH PARTIES!!!

  44. Who has the real power here to impact customer experience and pocketbooks? The timing of the decision to cut off content is more proof this is hostage taking by Disney.

  45. Think about it...the only company here who has the control to either take more of your money or take away what you want to see is who? Spectrum will have to pass the additional cost in the long term so this is just hostage holding by Disney that will impact the customer one way or the other. Trust me too...every other provider will be getting the same treatment in the not too distant future...there is nowhere to run.

  46. Think about it...the only company here who has the control to either take more of your money or take away what you want to see. Spectrum will have to pass the additional cost in the long term so this is just hostage holding by Disney. Trust me too...every other provider will be getting the same treatment in the not too distant future.

  47. I'm a senior & we only have Spectrum at our area. We don't have a choice! DISNEY has hacked up their prizes e g. Disneyland. entry Prize is so high that us locals cannot afford to go there, it's disgusting. Please, resolve this because at the end, us customers have to pay the cost anyways. I need my programs!

  48. Each of these guys have so much money and now they're wanting to charge more money for us to watch ESPN and SEC channels! I'm almost ready just cancel all my cable and just say the heck with it because I can't watch my NCAA men's basketball or any ESPN channel that I currently have on here! This bunch of crap greedy people this what all these people are and they won't stop until they get more and more and more! This does not impress me at all but they jerk channels off of my Spectrum service and I am not happy. I can't watch tennis and I can't watch my college hoops!

  49. Spectrum will do what everyone else has done..negotiate to Disney and pass it on you and your cable bill. That's how it works. It's is a ploy by Spectrum to charge you more in the end. Everytime negotiations happen like this, my cable bill goes up. Period.

  50. That's funny. Spectrum is just as greedy, if not more greedy. You act like Spectrum is this great company. Give me a break.

  51. Completely wrong. Most of yall don't know how many times cable providers go through this with these networks. Disney has the most of the biggest networks and controls several channels. They want Spectrum to charge customers for their services and not have them in certain packages. They have the say so in how Spectrum charges the customer so that Disney can get what they want to make off of each customer

  52. Tried that. They don't budge on lowering your bill. Either have them or drop them. I called them even for a temporary drop since my cable and internet was out two days. They refused to reduce it. They said the bill is the bill. They don't care how you feel.

  53. You realize that they are acting like a corporation does. If you go based on what they do, you wouldn't watch anything or buy anything. Corporations are only in the business of maximizing profits for the company and it's shareholders. That's the reality. Either take it or leave it. Emotions are not part of their plan nor is do gooding.

  54. Since our cable has turned from Time Warner to spectrum they have done nothing but raised and raised and raised our bills no matter what programming you get. They come up with excuses after excuses it's horrible to customers that is on any kind of limited income. As far as Disney goes there's been a lot of issues with Disney itself and I feel it is all politics and about money with both parties this is ridiculous. Right now the way the economy is they say it's good but it's not to normal income families. Right now with our budget we are paying so much more in the grocery store let alone for cable services cuz we can't afford to go to the movies.. do neither one of these companies realize that the customers and people normal people pay their wages this is ridiculous they need to come to the table and get this resolved quickly we are over paying as it is. Please for the good of humanity and the good of the people please get this together.. thank you and God bless.

  55. I some what agree with everyone. Split the difference and get on with the sports
channels. If we have to pay a little more so be it, but lets get this resolved.

  56. Disney has the rates so high at Disneyland and their other parks it is ridiculous. Money is one thing. Pure greed is another. It appears that Disney is all about the money…nothing else! The NFL is the same way and college football is now the same!! Tired of the pure greed!

  57. Disappointed in losing ESPN but understand Spectrums point to keep Disney from thinking they can charge and do as they want to. Screw Disney, no wonder their stock is plunging, i sold mine and hope others do as well to send message to this greedy poorly run Company. Tough situation for both companies. Its Ukraine vs Putin, guess which company is Putin.

  58. Spectrum is the worst! I hope Disney prevails and Spectrum goes away! They do not care about their customers and this is bitter sweet!!! I’m sure they did not warn their customers about the blacked out channels and their customer service team is not being nice and are tired of being abused by angry and frustrated customers. Which shows they don’t care about their employees either! They treated me horribly as a customer and I switched!!! Ha ha ha … nice to see Spectrum on blast for who they are and I hope Disney wins and Spectrum continues to lose customers they don’t deserve! Respect your money people and pay companies that treat you better ! Spectrum doesn’t care and let’s see if you all get a credit for the inconvenience?
One of San Diego, California’s finest residents!

  59. I am so VERY FRUSTRATED, We don't buy all the fancy channels, we don't stream other TV shows. We used cable to watch the things we enjoyed. But to remove these channels and not allow customers to have access. This is a bunch of hogwash. What's the matter Disney ? Your wokeness causing you to lose money because people are standing up for what is right and don't want their kids brainwashed ? Spectrum, We pay over $250 for just internet and cable in our area and i expect to see the channels that are included in my package. If you cant come to an agreement. Well you just lost a custom. We get really nothing we really watch expect many of the channels blocked, plus all the channels that are in another language. Why do I have to pay for those? I would like a reduction in my cable bill for all the channels we cant watch. This is ridiculous, get your crap together Spectrum and DISNEY. Stopping robbing your customers.

  60. Why subscribe to another provider when you already have Spectrum, subscribe separately to Disney, ESPN, and -- here in Texas! -- Longhorn Network!! This is not right! And the Texas-Alabama game is scheduled next Saturday with (gulp!) ESPN!!! FIX THIS!!!

  61. This is a bunch of BULL! For what I pay for cable and you have taken away the channels that I watch most during football season is unacceptable! If Charter doesn't have this fixed within a week, I am changing to a different provider!

  62. I read all the previous comments. Really nothing more to add. Consumers are tired of switching back and forth, getting new equipment, changing access, new passwords , reconfiguring Electronics. A move to dish, Comcast, eventually they will dispute too. Same old merry go round. Disney, Charter GROW UP.

  63. Disney and spectrum are making it more clear they only care ur themselves just want more money especially since Disney has lost revenue and respect of the die hard Disney fans . I’ve been to the parks over ten times and I don’t plan to return anytime soon parks are way to expensive and wait times are ridiculous . Now I can’t even watch my teams play on tv good job Disney Walt would be so proud

  64. FIX this NOW seniors long for national geographic and the grandkids also. don't care about sports but maybe those that do could say pay $5.00 more a month to have?? I doubt spectrum or disney is reading all our comments what do you think??

  65. I'm paying for channels which I'm currently NOT GETTING. So,my bill should be reduced , as everyone's bill should be, until this grammar school playground arguement is settled. Every customer should call Spectrum to get their bill lowered. PERIOD ! END OF CONVERSATION!!!!!

  66. I was VERY upset while I was watching the US Open and all of a sudden the screen went black. All Disney wants is for you to buy their Disney Plus package. As if they need more money.

  67. Spectrum is accusing Disney of same practice they use: forcing subscribers to pay for channels in packages the subscriber doesn't. I will likely be cutting th e cord soon.

  68. I'm on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay the ransom to either Spectrum or Disney! But, that's what happens when you're a captive audience. If you want to dance, you'll have to pay the fiddler!

  69. All cable companies have this same problem with carriage fees; and it makes little sense to me, in fact,I think the whole business model is upside down. The problem I have is that the cable channels charge their advertisers based on delivering X number of subscribers for their commercials, and then charge the cable companies to carry them to those subscribers. The channel operators should be paying the cable companies to carry them to the subscribers they’re promising their advertisers. The whole thing is like a snake eating its own tail…with the subscribers getting nickel and dimed more every year. The business is losing subscribers mainly because of the ever increasing carry fees. Over the air tv is great, but, especially since the HD broadcast changeover, many many areas turned into a deep fringe reception area with low signal reliability…a huge bonus for the cable and satellite companies.

  70. Customers always suffer. Both companies make way too much money. Off of hard working people.Spectrum has pricing of a car payment monthly. And Disney pricing is so high. Most families will NEVER be able to plan a trip there.

  71. Quit holding people hostage.
    Its all about Corporate Greed.
You all make so much money, leave us alone let us enjoy entertainment at a fair price.
Gouging your customers. All cable, streaming companies are overpriced.Disney the woke network

  72. Finally, someone knows what's going on in this complicated negotiation. Both parts are not working in good faith for the customers, only for their own business.

  73. Personally I don't care if they both go bankrupt. I don't remember the last time I watched any Disney owned channel and as for Spectrum, there service is terrible. We constantly have problems with receiving there signal and going without service, usually at the worst time possible. Disney has had financial problems for years, now with them going woke and pro lgbtq they are suffering even further, of course they won't admit to these bad decisions as a cause but their stock has suffered, they apparently don't care about the stock holders that actually own their company. Spectrum is no better, forcing customers to take channels we have no desire in watching, but having to take them to get the channels we do want. There are other options for both, get rid of both and use the other options.

  74. Disney blames Charter Spectrum and Charter Spectrum blames Disney. Get over it both of you! I don't care about Disney or Charter Spectrum. I wish each of the channels involved were their own and move on. Both parties need to come back to the table and resolve this!

  75. Charter is on the right side of history. Thank goodness they are negotiating on behalf of customers because if they pay Disney more we will have to pay more. Disney+ is not worth it. We primarily use Charter internet, Netflix, HBO and Peacock (free). We also use an antennae for free digital broadcasts of NBC, CBS, ABC etc.

  76. This is bull I pay $170 a month for cable which includes ESPN etc. We love our sports & to say now we will not be able to watch some upcoming football games is unacceptable!! Worry about the customers not just money for once! I want a reduced cable bill & this issue needs to resolved at once!

  77. Both are crappy programming and both have been bleeding customers by the thousands and need to one up the other. I don't have either and could care less. Good luck to those who lost service because you're in the long game here.

  78. Money money money, Disney charges Spectrum more and the spectrum has to charge you more. I'm surprised more people don't go back to antenna TV.

  79. Disneys says it asked Charter for extended conversations yet decided “conveniently” to go black just before game time. They college fans up only to shut them down and make a statement to get as much attention as possible. Only problem with their timing is it pissed people off big time.
I too am angry with Disney because I know they are losing a bunch of money and feel that this is just a tactic to try and get what they want.
    Like others have said….PURE GREED
DISNEY parks are empty, Disney pay per view is a loss and layoffs in the company and than try and blame it on politics. Now is Spectrums fault???
    I don’t think so!!

  80. It's a clear case of Spectrum failing to negotiate in good faith. This "dispute" began in June of 2021. In the spring of this year (2023) Charter-Spectrum knew in advance the terms of Disney’s request (2.2B and carrying the full Disney package). At the last minute they (Spectrum) told Disney "No" and then offered a different bargaining deal (which included having Disney surrender their streaming service fees).
Now, Spectrum claims that it isn't fair for their customers to have to be strapped with all of Disney's networks. While at the same time forcing existing customer to continue to take dozens of unwanted channels and offering no other plans beside changing tier and losing channels that they (customers) do want.
At this time, I'm paying Spectrum for those Disney channels still and I want them back. I enjoy those networks and feel as if Spectrum is not in touch with customer’s needs.

  81. Grow up and get this fight over. Your hurting customers and thinking only of yourself. If we don't get the programs we are paying for we should be compensated. Disney you have no right to pull this trick your pulling on a very special weekend. Where is the compassion that Disney is know for. FIX IT!

  82. Oh, I get it....disney wants customers to pick up and dish out money to one of their providers while still paying for spectrum......MORONS.

  83. Spectrum is being ridiculous. I'm sure it's a friend of desanctimonious. I am going to cancel my subscription and stream from now on. Spectrum is in a declining market and decisions like this show they are blind to their dumb decisions.

  84. "Disney is encouraging consumers to switch to another provider that currently offers it's content" That's all well and good until Disney decides to blackmail that content provider for more money and you're right back where you started, only now with a different provider.

  85. Disney has shot themselves in the foot. My son is mentally handicapped and LIVES for the Disney Channel. When I saw the blackout I panicked, expecting the weekend from Hell. I was amazed to find he transitioned to Nickelodeon with barely a blip. If he can adjust, so can millions of other kids and Disney will keep declining. If no one sees their programming and ads, they will lose relevancy quickly.

  86. Spectrum blames Disney for bundling and what they call too expensive. Hmm. That is exactly what Spectrum does to its customers. I blame Spectrum and find it incredulous they allowed this to happen.

  87. I don’t think either of them care about the customer. They care about $$$. Bottom line is I pay a lot for cable per month, and the package I signed up for has ESPN, etc., and I am not getting it. I want a reduced rate if they can’t provide what I am paying for!

  88. Spectrum is the only cable company in our area and we will NEVER subscribe to Disney+. Bad move Disney. Continue to alienate consumers so you can lose more money.
