This week has been all about Hurricane Idalia and how it may affect Disney World operations. Disney did close a couple attractions, activated the cancelation policy, and asked Guests at Fort Wilderness to take precautions.

Other than wind and rain, the hurricane is staying north of Central Florida (thankfully), and today seems to be the worst of what Disney World guests will experience. Of course, there is a tornado watch until 3:00 pm today, August 30, so that is something to keep in mind.

With all that said, it’s obvious why Disney World is very quiet today in terms of crowds. Let’s take a look (at the time of writing, 11:00 am).

Wait times at Magic Kingdom

Currently, 13 attractions have a wait time of 5 minutes – that’s basically a walk on! Rides like Buzz Lightyear and Space Mountain (among others) only have a wait time of 10 minutes.

You can meet princesses and Mickey within 15 minutes of getting in line! The only thee attractions with wait times over 15 minutes include Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tales with Belle, and Peter Pan’s Flight.

Unfortunately, Astro Orbiter, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Tom Sawyer Island are closed. With wait times like that I would not purchase Genie+! Would you?

Hopping on the monorail to get to Epcot, EVERY ATTRACTION that is open has a wait time of 15 minutes or less! The only ride that is closed is Test Track, and that will likely not open at all today due to rain.

Could you imagine riding Soarin’ and Frozen Ever After 15 minutes after getting in line? Even Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has a 10 minute standby wait!

Now, let’s jump on the Skyliner to head to Hollywood Studios.

Hollywood Studios has so many headliners, wait times always seem the highest here. Not today! Slinky Dog Dash has a 5 minute standby wait. I repeat: Slinky Dog Dash has a 5 minute standby wait! If I were in the park today I would be riding that over and over!

Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster are also both walk-ons, and everything is under 25 minutes besides Rise of the Resistance which has a posted wait time of 50 minutes. What a day to be in Hollywood Studios.

What may shock you is the fact that there are NO closed rides right now! That’s amazing!

You should not be surprised as I tell you Flight of Passage only has a standby wait of 15 minutes. 15! The only attraction that has a higher wait time is Na’vi River Journey (20 minutes). Everything else is a walk-on.

TriceraTop Spin is the only attraction that is closed.

Why would anyone spend thousands of dollars & risk their vacation by booking during peak hurricane season? You could be holed up for days in your resort room with nothing to do.
