Disney sets guidelines in place for Guests to have an overall enjoyable experience. New guidelines have been put in place for these popular Disney events.
Rules
If you have ever been to Disney, it may seem they have a lot of rules or guidelines for Guests to follow. These rules help ensure that everyone stays safe and also has a good experience.
These rules can range from what is allowed in to the park and even what Guests can wear. Following these rules truly can makes things more enjoyable for everyone. Nobody likes to be effected negatively when someone else breaks the rules.
runDisney
runDisney has FOUR race weekends at Walt Disney World and will soon bring races back to Disneyland. What could be more fun than running through your favorite place? I know I am not alone because these races sell out FAST!
These races put you right in the middle of the magic. You can run through the Disney parks and get the chance to meet some very rare characters.
What makes these races even more fun, is participants get decked out as characters too. The costumes are part of the fun! It could even be as simple as a fun race themed shirt.
New Costume Guidelines
An email was recently sent to Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend participants informing them that they have updated the costume guidelines. Three things they pointed out in the email that are new include:
- Layered costumes that could conceal prohibited items are not permitted.
- Costume props including, without limitation, those that surround the entire body, are inflatable, or physically connect multiple participants to each other are not permitted.
- Foam swords and all-plastic lightsabers may be permitted, however, they may not exceed 36″ in length.
runDisney sent an email updating Wine and Dine participants of new costume guidelines.
In the email, a link to the current guidelines is there. It is important to note that runDisney reserves the right to deny admission to any participant that they feel is inappropriate or could take away from the experience for other participants. Here are the guidelines as listed on the runDisney website:
- Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
- Participants 14 and older may not wear costume masks of any kind.
- Participants 13 and younger may wear costume masks, however, the participant’s eyes must be visible, and the mask may not cover the participant’s entire face.
- Participants who dress like characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests except as expressly requested and authorized by runDisney.
- Costumes may not drag on the ground.
- Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another participant.
- Costumes may not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Layered costumes that could conceal prohibited items are not permitted.
- Costume props including, without limitation, those that surround the entire body, are inflatable or physically connect multiple participants to each other are not permitted.
- Tutus, transparent wings and hats/headwear are permitted; however, they may not cover the participant’s face.
- Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
- Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
- Participants who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from, a runDisney event unless their costume can be modified to meet the above standards.
Above I have bolded some of the guidelines that are making the most chatter in runDisney social media groups. It is important to note that many of these rules have been in place for some time. However, it seems that runDisney may be planning on being stricter with enforcing these in the upcoming race season.
What do you think of this update to the runDisney costume guidelines? Does this change any of your costume ideas for your upcoming runDisney race weekends? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to share this post with a friend!
