Port Orleans Riverside features great theming throughout the resort that allows guests to feel as though they are in the middle of Louisiana.

There are many great amenities such as the surrey bike rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, boat transportation to Disney Springs, and close access to Port Orleans French Quarter.

Port Orleans Refurbishment Extended

Disney originally announced a refurbishment plan for the Magnolia Bend area of the resort. Disney shared that this refurbishment would be completed by February 2026.

The timeline and extent of this refurbishment have grown quite a bit. Now, instead of listing just Magnolia Bend, Disney shares, "From early May 2025 through August 2027, Guest rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside will undergo refurbishments throughout different parts of the Resort hotel."

Disney's Port Orleans Closures

Currently, Disney's Port Orleans Boardwalk is closed due to a complete refurbishment. Guests are notified: "Pardon our pixie dust: To access Alligator Bayou Buildings 14-28, please use the temporary route through Riverside Mills Food Court."

Disney's Port Orleans boardwalk is undergoing a full refurbishment.

Guests renting Surrey bikes need to be mindful of pathway closures due to this refurbishment. This undoubtedly adds extra steps for Guests visiting and/or staying at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside.
