The Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World. It combines both “spooky” and “funny” elements to create a “haunted” experience that is uniquely Disney.

One “special effect” that guests at Disneyland love is the Hatbox Ghost. A year ago, much to fans’ delight, we announced HERE that the Hatbox Ghost would be coming to Disney World!
From August 7-9, 2023, Disney World’s Haunted Mansion was closed for refurbishment. Many guests hope that this could be a sign for the addition of the Hatbox Ghost.

This morning, we, along with several other guests, headed towards Liberty Square to rope drop the Haunted Mansion. Many are hoping to be able to see if our suspicions are correct and to have a possible first glimpse of the Hatbox Ghost.
Unfortunately, Cast Members at the Liberty Square rope drop share that Haunted Mansion WILL NOT open on time for guests this morning. Cast Members are unable to share when the attraction may open to guests. We are hopeful that it will reopen today.

Currently, it appears that there are four Imagineers outside the Haunted Mansion. This may be a good sign that the Hatbox Ghost is now added. As the day continues, we will share more updates for the Haunted Mansion delay and if any changes took place during this short refurbishment.
