My (Donna) children absolutely love the Sword in the Stone Disney film. Every trip to the Magic Kingdom includes a visit to the Excalibur, which is located in front of Prince Charming Regal Carousel.

Guests are welcome to try their strength and luck at this hidden gem. In the past, a ceremony was held where Merlin the Sorcerer came to ask one young knight to try their hand at pulling out the sword. Unfortunately, this experience is no longer available, but the sword remains. There are so many great hidden treasures throughout the Disney Parks.

Unfortunately, the Sword in the Stone will soon be removed from one Disney Park.

Let's be honest; Disney fans are not typically big on change. We love the nostalgia and familiarity of Disney Parks. Today, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassador, Tony Dick, announced that the Sword in the Stone will be removed from the Park.

This Sword in the Stone is located in front of the Carousel as it is in the other Disney Parks. Interestingly, the Sword in the Stone will be removed to make room for the new Dream Makers statue.

This statue will feature both Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse seated on a bench. We love the idea of this statue at this location. Walt Disney shared that as he was sitting on that park bench eating peanuts, he was also dreaming.

Disney said, "I felt that there should be something built where the parents and the children could have fun together. So that's how Disneyland started."

The Sword in the Stone will soon be replaced with the Dream Makers statue.

Soon guests visiting Hong Kong Disneyland can remember this dream of Walt Disney as they watch families enjoy Cinderella Carousel. It is interesting to note that this statue will be placed behind the castle while many other statues of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse are featured at the front of the castle.

What do you think of the removal of the Sword in the Stone? Do you wish similar Dream Makers statues would be placed in all Disney Parks? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with a fellow Disney pal.

  1. All these dramatic comments about Walt's vision and it's happening in Hong Kong Disney. So dramatic

  2. Too sad. Just another way that Disney is changing for the worse. I grew up with Disneyland and went to Disney World later. Such great memories. I was hoping to make more, but I think it's all in the past.

  3. Disney is essential to childhood. I feel sorry for children of parents who don’t feel this way.

  4. I sure wish they wouldn't remove the sword in the stone. I am the woman whom actually was able to remove the sword from the stone when I was a very little girl, maybe around kindergarten age. I feel like some special acknowledgement was supposed to happen and somehow it was prevented from happening. I am still here in CA 8f they would like me to do it again!

  5. They need to stop making changes!! Walt is probably rolling over in his grave at how expensive the tickets are to go to Disneyland and Disneyworld!! Walt’s vision was for EVERYONE to be able to enjoy his parks!! Not just the ones with deep pockets!! SHAME ON the high-ups for being so greedy!! You disgust me!!!

  6. Why change Walt’s dreams? Social social systems have played too much in the changes. First the gen x got upset about the
Siamese cat in Aristocats. And then you had to put a warning. Why can’t people just leave well enough alone.

  7. It all started going down hill from pleasure Island. Many ideas that just were not thought well. Walt would be totally unhappy with the corporate giant his dreams became.

  8. I'm done with Disney in every way, until they stop pedling thiewlr social agendas. No Disney streaming, n I park visits no merch. Total boycot

  9. We have been going to Magic Kingdom for over 40 years, and feel like the changes they've been making are not in keeping with Walts vision. They're removing the nostalgia in favor of catering to new ideals, and I'm not the only one who is losing interest in attending Walt Disney World. Those who live in Florida as we did for many years see the changes and are turned off by them. My former neighbor there has chosen to move out of state. Disney was the only thing keeping her there and she doesn't care for the changes either. They need to redeem Walts original vision and make it classic again. They also need to value their customers over money.

  10. WHY????
    That is really sad.
Let’s put up a boring statue. I’m sure children and parents together will enjoy that statue immensely.
