“I’m Going to Disney World”
A time-honored tradition has been to welcome victors from the Super Bowl in a special parade with Mickey Mouse through the Magic Kingdom. The Super Bowl tradition first started after Super Bowl XXI on January 25, 1987. A Disney commercial starred New York Giant’s quarterback, Phil Simms.
After the winning game, Simms was asked, “Now that you’ve won the Super Bowl, what are you going to do?” Simms responded, “I’m going to Disney World!” The payoff was $75,000 and this commercial has been rewritten every year since.
NFL victors are then welcomed at Walt Disney World to join Mickey Mouse in a triumphant parade throughout the Magic Kingdom.
Special Celebrity Filming
Guests look forward to seeing athletes celebrating at Walt Disney World after the Super Bowl. However, no one expected to see Super Bowl greats Peyton Manning and Phil Simms at the Magic Kingdom yesterday.
The same Phil Simms who shouted the now infamous phrase, “I’m Going to Disney World” back in 1987 is found celebrating in the Magic Kingdom once again. This time he is also with Peyton Manning.
They filmed in the park on May 2, 2023 and celebrated with Mickey Mouse aboard a parade float. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly why the pair are celebrating at Walt Disney World this week.

A few guests speculated that this could be for Peyton Manning’s ESPN+ show, “Peyton’s Places.” This is possible especially with Phil Simms present first coining the term, “I’m Going to Disney World.”
