In 1989, Walt Disney Feature Animation released “The Little Mermaid” animated film loosely based on a Hans Christian Anderson story. It stars the voices of Jodi Benson, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Pat Carroll and many more. The original musical score was written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
Now, this year, Disney is releasing a Live Action Little Mermaid movie. This time the cast features Halle Bailey, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Jonah Hauer-King, Art Malik, Noma Dumezweni, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy.
It’s written by David Magee, Rob Marshall, and John DeLuca and produced by Marc Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rob Marshall, and John DeLuca.
Little Mermaid Storyline
“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric.
