Fire Emergencies at Disney

Walt Disney World is no stranger to incidents involving fire. There have actually been quite a few lately. Earlier this year, a small fire occurred at the Magic Kingdom during their nighttime spectacular, Disney Enchantment. Another incident happened during a stage show which caused the show to come to a sudden halt.

Guests have spotted small fires during Harmonious. On one occasion a guest pulled the fire alarm at the Tower of Terror leading all guests and Cast Members to evacuate the attraction. Entire dining locations have been evacuated due to a fire at Beaches and Cream and a possible fire at both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Now guests are asked to remain calm as they begin so see both smoke and falling ash around Walt Disney World. A controlled burn is now taking place in southern Sumter County at the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve.

The 1800-acre ecological burn is sending smoke 40+ miles to Orlando. There have been some reports of ashes falling at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. This is definitely not the “pixie dust” that many guests may be hoping for while visiting the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”

At this time, we are unsure of how long the burn may take place and how long ash may continue to fall at both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. If you are currently visiting Walt Disney World you may want to be mindful of the falling ash.
