Mama Melrose
Checked curtains, overhead string lights, hanging foodstuffs, and walls crowded with Mama’s eclectic mementos transform this former backlot warehouse into a cozy and inviting dining space. The same Italian menu is served for lunch and dinner.
The official backstory is that a young girl from a small Sicilian village moved to Hollywood to become a star. However, she soon found that cooking was her true calling as she re-created her papa’s secret recipes for her starving actor friends.
At their urging, she opened a restaurant in a vacant backlot warehouse once used to store film equipment. It’s an out of the way location with somewhat average food. However, it’s unique theming can be a fun experience.
Evacuations
From time to time, Disney World areas need to be evacuated for various reasons. Recently, we shared the Liberty Square Riverboat evacuation HERE. Sometimes areas are evacuated and/or blocked off due to power outages, fireworks, or even inclement weather.
Often, it’s a fire alarm going off for a minor reason and the area reopens quickly.
Tonight’s Evacuation
Tonight, a Twitter user posted that Mama Melrose and the surrounding area was evacuated due to a fire alarm going off. Check out the video below:

Disney puts guest safety first and will check things out thoroughly before allowing guests to return to this area. Hopefully, this won’t take too long and guests will be able to return to the restaurant soon and continue dinner.
