A storm system that has been causing major travel issues this week across the Midwest will move eastward. How will it affect this weekend’s weather in Disney World?

Weather Forecast Discussion

A storm system will put an end to the unseasonably warm weather we have experienced across Central Florida this week. Highs in the mid 80’s will come to an end after Thursday. With the cooler temperatures comes the chance at some rain in the weekend forecast.

A storm system will approach the region on Friday. This system caused major travel disruptions with rain and snow in the Midwest. The expected surface map for Friday morning at 8AM is below. You can see a low pressure center near the Florida panhandle along with an approaching cold front.

Showers are expected to break out Friday morning and continue off and on until Friday evening. There could be some embedded thunderstorms as well. It’s possible we could see a “Rainy Day Cavalcade” or two on Friday.

Temperatures will be cooler on Saturday with a decent breeze blowing. It will definitely feel much cooler than recent days, but things could be worse for early February! Florida will mostly miss out on the intense arctic blast that is reaching the Upper Midwest and Northeast. It’s just a glancing blow unlike the blast near the Christmas holiday.

Showers will still be in the forecast over the weekend, but things will improve by Monday. Temperatures should warm back up to the mid 70’s by Monday.

Severe Weather Chances

Earlier in the week it looked like we might be dealing with a higher than normal chance at severe weather for Friday with the cold front advancing into the warm airmass in place. Thankfully, the environment is not as favorable for severe weather. The Orlando area will just be in the general risk for thunderstorms and severe weather is not expected.

Remember that any thunderstorm can produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. Follow any warnings and cast member directions to take shelter.

A Look Ahead

Good news if you enjoyed those 80 degree temperatures this past week! Early indications are that the warm weather returns with highs in the low to mid 80’s beginning Wednesday. It looks like an afternoon thunderstorm is possible as well but no large-scale storm systems as of now.
