Limited Character Interactions
Part of what makes a Disney vacation so magical is interacting with your favorite characters. Princesses, The Fab 5, Pixar characters, and more come to life in theme parks and resorts. It is such a magical experience to be surprised as a princess is simply wandering through Fantasyland or you see Mickey and his pals at your resort lobby.
Unfortunately, back in October 2022, we shared that Walt Disney World would cut several character meet and greets. Due to the historic park closure in 2020, Disney World let go of a very large percentage of its Cast Members.
Demand for Disney returned very quickly, but the company is still not able to meet that demand. Cast Member shortages have likely been the reason why some restaurants, shops, and entertainment options remain closed.
More Characters Returning?
We have great news for both college students and Disney guests. Today, Disney Programs announced that the character performer role is now returning for incoming Disney College Program participants.
College students interested in joining the Disney College Program need to first apply to the Disney College Program. If you are interested in being cast as a Disney character, create a profile if you have not previously done so. You can get full details on the application process HERE.
Those that receive callbacks must attend an in-person call-back that will take place in select cities March 3-10, 2023. This will be great news for college students hoping to bring magic to Disney guests.
This may also mean Guests visiting the Disney Parks can also enjoy additional character meet and greets with added character performers or at least have a more consistent schedule. These new Disney Program character performers will begin creating magic in the fall 2023 season.
