Here is the shortened version: for $15 per person per day at Disney World and $20 per person per day at Disneyland (sometimes a discount is available), choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance.

You can make one selection at a time all throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included at Walt Disney World and 15+ attractions will be available at Disneyland. Here is the full list. Additionally, select character sightings are part of the Genie+ service. See which ones are currently offered HERE.

Genie+ does not have to be purchased for the entire length of your stay. This can be purchased ahead of time or the day of so you can pick and choose when you want to use it. This will be helpful on your rest days or when your are touring less busy parks. It’s not really necessary at Animal Kingdom and Epcot but is actually very useful at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

If you purchase it in advance as an add-on ticket option, it will be added for each day you have tickets. Otherwise, you will purchase Genie+ each day you want to use it. Here is a handy guide to walk you through the steps of purchasing Genie+.

As stated above, you can purchase Genie+ for every day of your trip or you can pick and choose which days you use it. The following change goes into effect for ONE-DAY tickets ONLY:

Single-day purchases of Disney Genie+ are now only available directly through the My Disney Experience app on the Guest’s date of visit. Third party 1-day tickets with Genie+ will continue to be sold through March 1

For Guests with multi-day tickets or vacation packages, you may continue to purchase Disney Genie+ prior to your visit.

Simply put, this means if you want to buy a one-day ticket you cannot purchase Genie+ in advance. You must wait until the day of your visit.

  1. I think this has to do with the ticket price increases. It’s my understanding that if you purchase genie+ in advance you must pay for genie+, the new ticket price, and tax. People had been avoiding the fees by buying genie+ on the day they wanted to use it.

  2. Don’t know Julie. ‘Day of Visit’ would suggest yes you can. But hey, happy vacation. Stay up until midnight to book it and don’t forget to get up at stupid o’clock to book your first lightening lane. Beware, you may have to wait 2 hours to get your second one. Happy trip…..

  3. It makes no sense!!! Why purchase this in advance – if you cannot reserve the rides in advance??? Is it cheaper? Is it more convenient?? Is Disney doing anything that makes sense? This looks like Disney is just getting more money in advance. I bet if you change your mind – NO REFUND!

  4. This makes it sound like you can purchase individual days of Genie+ in advance. Is that a new update? I thought in advance you had to buy for the duration of your stay or if you wanted to buy individual days then you buy it the morning of?
