We are ready for lift off! Disney announces the official opening of Space 220! Are you excited?
Space 220 is a new table service restaurant, which will be located next to Mission: SPACE. Upon entering the restaurant you will take a special elevator that will take you 220 miles above Earth. You are made to feel like you are docking next to the Centauri Space Station, which is suspended just beyond the orbit of Mission: SPACE. You will be able to enjoy daytime and nighttime views of Earth.
When brought to your seats, you will walk past the grow zone, which is a spinning wall of produce that is meant to mimic the Earth’s gravity. The produce will represent the fresh ingredients used by the culinary team.
We have been waiting for the opening of Epcot’s Space 220 for a few years now! What was supposed to be open in the winter of 2019-2020 has turned into much longer with several delays. If you have been keeping up with our blog, we have outlined those delays a few times. You can read about them HERE.
We previously shared that the restaurant would be opening sometime this fall with a prediction that it would coincide with the 50th anniversary. And we are correct!
Disney just announced that Space 220 will lift off in mid-September!
Space 220 will open sometime in mid-September.
According to Disney, “The Space 220 restaurant menu will feature stellar dishes and gourmet recipes, with a two-course prix fixe menu for lunch, and a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner. The upscale, contemporary fare will bring new meaning to “the height of dining!” Rounding out the meal will be unique beverages – from fine wine to atmospheric cocktails and more.”
At this time we do not have a specific date for opening. Additionally, reservations are not available yet and we do not have a date for that either.
Check out the video from Imagineer Zach Riddley as he give us a behind the scenes look at the restaurant!
Keep checking back with us! We are so excited for Space 220 to open and will be sharing information as it becomes available.
