Several Disney World attractions are closed as bad weather moves in to the Central Florida area. What do you like to do on a rainy day at Disney?

Bad Weather

rainy day cavalcade

Showers and thunder have made their way to Disney World today, July 27. Rain is common throughout the summer months. However, the weather today is affecting many attractions.

As a result, all outdoor attractions at all four theme parks are temporarily closed. Check out the My Disney Experience app wait times:

Thankfully, indoor rides are still operating. However, now those attractions will experience higher waits as Guests try to get out of the bad weather. For example, Space Mountain has an 85 minute wait while Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has a 65 minute wait.

With all outdoor attractions closed, indoor attractions now have higher wait times.

Over at Epcot, Soarin’ has a 65 minute wait wait. Flight of Passage has the highest wait time right now and is sitting at 145 minutes! Wow.

What to do when it rains

I guess I’d rather wait the storms out inside than try to get back to the resort. I recommend trying to get to a spot where there are several indoor attractions. For example, Fantasyland has The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s Philharmagic, it’s a small world, and Haunted Mansion semi close together.

EPCOT’s Land Pavilion has Awesome Planet, Soarin’, Living with the Land, and restaurants like Garden Grill and Sunshine Seasons. Maybe try to get a walk up table at Garden Grill?

The land of Pandora has two attractions – both inside – Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. Surely that storm will pass in the amount of time it takes you to get through the Flight of Pass queue!

If the weather isn’t too terrible, be on the lookout for the Rainy Day Cavalcade at the Magic Kingdom. Check out photos HERE.

Of course, if you aren’t at the theme parks during bad weather, I would wait it out in your room. The great thing about smaller hotels like Riviera and Grand Floridian is you don’t have to walk outside to grab some food. I recommend turning on a movie or getting that mid-day nap in.

Hopefully the weather passes soon! Are you in the parks today? Please share your experience with us in the comments below or on Facebook! You can also share them in our KtP Crew.

The times change constantly. Today the rain closed Everest for a while but when it opened the wait was only 35 min. Millennium Falcon wait time went from 210 min to 75 min yesterday. Never know when you might get lucky. I actually love rainy days at Disney. It's not a hot and it often clears out the parks.

Happens all the time when there are storms and lightning. Not newsworthy.
