This has been such an exciting week for Disney fans with the announcement that fireworks are returning to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Check out how ECPOT Forever will be improved to bring even more magic in the night skies.
Return of Fireworks
We have been teased for weeks now with the testing of fireworks at Walt Disney World. Our hope was that these fireworks testings may indicate the return of fireworks to Walt Disney World.
Over the weekend, we shared Disney World would be testing fireworks at the end of this month. We were unsure if Guests would be allowed in the park or not during this time. After several credible rumors, we finally received the official announcement this week.
“At Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, July 1 marks the start of nightly fireworks performances at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT. “Happily Ever After” will transform Cinderella Castle with lights, projections and pyrotechnics, as moments from favorite Disney stories encourage you to grab hold of your dreams and make them come true.”

How will this affect the Parks?
As soon as the excitement from this announcement subsided a bit, Guests began to wonder how this may affect Boo Bash and even the 50th Anniversary celebrations. Find out the plans for the fireworks during these events HERE.
In response to the new viewing of nighttime fireworks at both the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT park hours have been adjusted. Immediately, Park Pass availability was filled for the first nights of the fireworks, and then they were “magically” replenished yesterday.
EPCOT Forever was originally a temporary nighttime show that debuted in late 2019. This was temporary in nature as work for the new nighttime show Harmonious was scheduled to debut in the Spring of 2020.
Imagineers have been hard at work on Harmonious, but apparently it is not quite ready yet. The daily work for Harmonious requires for the large barges to remain in the World Showcase Lagoon.
This will no doubt change the look of EPCOT Forever just a bit. Fans may remember that previously illuminated kites were flown throughout the night sky. The jet-ski drivers will be unable to maneuver around the various barges located in World Showcase Lagoon to fly these illuminated kites. This element had to be removed, but for the better in my opinion.
Walt Disney has announced, “Guests may notice a few changes to EPCOT Forever, as we’ve added even more pyrotechnics in lieu of the kites that were included in the original version of the show.”

I personally was not a huge fan of the illuminated kites, but I do love some Disney fireworks. To me this is a welcome change. It will be amazing to once again see the fireworks across the Walt Disney World skies.
What do you think of this change to EPCOT Forever? Do you think this will make the show even better? When do you think Harmonious will premiere? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
