Fortune has once again listed the “World’s Most Admired Companies” for 2021. What does this ranking mean and how does the Walt Disney Company rank among fellow businesses?

How Does One Rank the “Most Admired”?

The Fortune “World’s Most Admired” list is quite different than the Fortune 500 list which ranks businesses based on size and revues. The ranking qualities to be considered one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” involves the perception of the general public.

Korn Ferry is a large management consulting firm that collaborates with Fortune to create the ranking for this list. A network is formed that helps to determine the Most Admired list. This network is formed from a board of directors, executives, and analysts that daily observe these companies.

This group of 3,770 business insiders observe the following 9 attributes:

  • Quality of Management and Leadership
  • Quality of Products and Services
  • Innovativeness
  • Community Responsibility
  • Wise Use of Company Assets
  • Effectiveness in Running Global Business
  • Value as a Long-Term Investment
  • Soundness of Financial Position
  • Ability to Attract and Retain Talent
