One of the Walt Disney World resorts will be under a phased closing for Halloween. Do you think this is a good idea?

Resort Activities for Halloween

Many resorts at Walt Disney World host fun activities for Guests staying at the resorts.

In the past, Guests used to be able to meet characters dressed in special Halloween costumes. Additionally, Cast Members would pass out candy at the pool party associated with the meets. Obviously that will not happen this year since character meets have been temporarily suspended.

Fort Wilderness Resort

Fort Wilderness is home to cabins, RV sites, and tent camping. Guests who stay here love to decorate their sites – especially for holidays! Guests also love to hand out candy on Halloween night.

The resort also organizes fun activities for Halloween night. However, they have recently sent out emails to Guests with upcoming Halloween reservations sharing what activities will take place and which ones are not permitted.

You can read the email in full HERE.

Unfortunately, trick or treating is not permitted this year.

Other activities like golf cart and campsite decorating contests, pet costume contest, and pumpkin carving contests will still take place.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be under a strict phase 2 closure on Halloween night.

This means that Guests not staying overnight will not be allowed to enter the resort.

Additionally, Cast Members will be checking MagicBands at various Disney Springs and park transportation centers to ensure only overnight Guests are heading to the resort. Exceptions will be made for Guests with pony or horseback riding reservations.

Despite the fact that Disney has banned trick or treating at Fort Wilderness, it appears they are still taking precautions for the evening. Guests without reservations still love to come to the resort to look at all the decorations and get candy.
