During a recovery task force meeting today, Universal Studios has laid out some potential park operation changes that may take place when the park reopens.

We mentioned earlier that the Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, has organized a Re-open Florida Task Force, which is aimed at reopening the state.

Today, they are meeting for the first time today to discuss when and how Florida theme parks and other tourist attractions may reopen.

Universal Orlando Resort Extending Temporary Closure Again

We have some information about what Universal Studios has outlined regarding potential changes to the guest experience and daily operations of the parks.

First, it’s worth noting Universal Studios is still closed. They have not made any announcements regarding a reopening date.

Here some of the policies and precautions that may be implemented when the parks do reopen.

Universal will Pay Team Members 80% of Average Wages; will Furlough Part-Time Hourly Team Members

Changes for Team Members

  • Universal Studios is still very much focused on guest and team member safety.
  • Employees may be subject to temperature checks and health screenings by onsite health personnel.
  • Face masks will be encouraged for both guests and team members.
  • They will promote safe sanitation practices for employees at work and at home.
  • Sanitizing and disinfecting procedures will be ramped up.

Changes for Guests

  • The aim is to prevent sick guests from entering the parks. However, they do not know how to implement that yet.
  • The reopening will be slow and gradual, with attendance caps gradually increasing as policies are refined and the situation is monitored.
  • Universal plans to enhance mobile food ordering and mobile pay to reduce contact.
  • Virtual queues will be implemented in more areas of the park, like at Volcano Bay.
  • Every other standby line and outdoor lines will be used as well.
  • Guests will experience staggering seating on rides and at shows.
  • They will be reducing unnecessary touchpoints and will be disinfecting necessary touchpoints more frequently.

What do you think of these possible changes? Can you think of anything else Universal Studios and other tourist attractions could implement? Share your kind and respectful comments with us on facebook.

What I think is this is virus that must run its course. I will however not jump up and run right in to get a vaccine that is rushed and not throughly put thru clinical trials. Being a special needs parent I would caution people to be very concerned that we are putting so much faith in a vaccine that could potentially do more harm. As for visiting parks yes I would still go even if they open just as they have in the past. Yes the corona virus is a nasty one but if we are going to stay home for a virus then we may as well stay home for the flu season oh and nobody should drive because you MIGHT get in an accident and nobody should touch anything because it might have germs and you might get sick. We live each day exposed to germs and unknown events that may or may not hurt us. Living a life locked up in our homes out of fear is no life at all. I didn't get s manual when I was handed a child with a brain injury. Nobody said this is how you do it. I was scared to death because this child who was given no chance of doing anything was now mine and guess what he does so much more than drs said BECAUSE I DIDN’T let fear dominate our lives. I wont let this virus dominate our lives either. Because people we just need to be smart wash your hands use sanitizer but most of all use our brains.

Why not hook up with a hand sanitizer company and through out the park provide stations for people to use to sanitize their hands . Seems like it can not be totally the park cleaning and sanitizing , people in general are not clean about their hands and they touch “Everything! “I would say towelettes but that causes a trash problem where as sanitizer is used and gone !

I would love to go back but i have compromised immune system. We're are annual pass holders and have been for some time. I think as long as a guest doesn't feel safe to go, their pass should just be put on hold the way it is now, and reactivated when they re-enter the park for the first time.

Seriously, we love the theme parks too, but without a vaccine, how could they possibly think of exposing large groups of people to potential risks? Wearing masks, social distancing- not my idea of a fun park day. We won't be going til there is a vaccine.
