News:  Festival of the Arts Workshops Announced!

More news was released today about the upcoming Festival of the Arts at Disney’s Epcot.

We recently updated you with the menus for the Festival of the Arts and the performer list for the Disney on Broadway series, but now we have new information about the highly entertaining and interactive festival workshops!

These workshops and experiences are perfect for guests of all artistic ability levels. Be sure to check out some of these offerings during your visit to Epcot during the 2020 Festival of the Arts.

Epcot’s Festival of the Arts takes place from January 17-February 24, 2020. The workshops listed below cost $45 per person (plus tax) and will be held at the World Showplace Events Pavilion.

Ink and Paint Animation

Lynn Rippberger, Disney Animation Ink and Paint Artist will be leading a session on ink and paint animation each Saturday of the festival at 10 a.m.

Through this class, guests will learn about the history of 2D Cel Animation and paint their own Ink and Paint Cel. Many of Disney’s animated features and classic characters were created with 2D Cel animation.

Character offerings for this animation course change each week and include:

  • Saturday, January 18, 2020- Mickey Mouse
  • Saturday, January 25, 2020- Minnie Mouse
  • Saturday, February 1, 2020- Donald Duck
  • Saturday, February 8, 2020- Pluto
  • Saturday, February 15, 2020- Goofy
  • Saturday, February 22, 2020- Mickey Mouse

Disney 3D Paper Crafting

During this one day event on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 10 a.m., guests will be offered the ability to create their own dimensional paper artwork.

In this course taught by Dave Avanzino of Dave Avanzino Designs, Inc., guests will learn how to create 3D Disney shadowbox art through various paper folding and cutting techniques.

Gesture Drawing Basics: “Story Telling Drawings”

Todd Bright of Bright Animation will be leading guests through the art of quick sketching. Bright’s experience as an animator for The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear will be sure to add to this amazing session.

Through this workshop, guests will create their own sketch to take home as a keepsake.

Session times and dates include:

  • Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 10 a.m. at 10:30 a.m.

Animations 101: Flip Book Fundamentals

Also presented by Todd Bright of Bright Animation, this session will allow guests to create their own animation and bring it to life.

Guests will learn the fundamental principles of animation and will be given the tools necessary to breathe life into their creations.

  • Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Doodling with Viz

Gregg “Viz” Visintainer, Owner of Viz Art Ink and WonderGround Artist, will be leading a one time only session on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 10 a.m.

This workshop will allow guests to learn, watch, and draw their own hidden picture doodle. Guests will use ink to create a unique and colorful work of art.
