Disney Paves Over EPCOT's Epic Failure

EPCOT just made a huge change to World Celebration and this feels like a big step back for the Park.

EPCOT Transformation

In 2019, a complete transformation began at EPCOT. For 5 years, Guests navigated through never-ending construction walls with the promise of a bright and beautiful EPCOT.

This new EPCOT opened in phases with new attractions such as Remy's Ratatouille Adventure in 2021, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in 2022, and Journey of Water in 2023.

This transformation also created new "neighborhoods," including World Nature, World Discovery, World Showcase, and World Celebration.

As part of this transformation, EPCOT opened the World Celebration Gardens on December 5, 2023. This date, Walt Disney's birthday was the perfect date to reveal the new Walt Disney "Dreamer" state at EPCOT.

The initial vision of World Celebration Gardens was to offer a beautiful and welcoming area just behind Spaceship Earth for Guests to relax and recharge.

At night, World Celebration Gardens would transform with lighted pathways and lighted towers that would interact perfectly with the Spaceship Earth lighted displays nightly.

Since its opening in 2023, the lights installed in the pathways of World Celebration Garden have had some trouble. After hoping that these would eventually be fixed, they have now all been removed from World Celebration Garden.

World Celebration Garden ground lighting has now been completely removed.

According to reports, these lights have now been filled in with concrete. Literally solidifying that these lights will no longer return to World Celebration Garden.
