Disney Warns Guests at Old Key West Resort
Disney now confirms a new warning for Guests staying at Disney's Old Key West Resort.
Disney's Old Key West
Disney's Old Key West is the original Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort. The resort opened on October 1, 1991, and was renamed Old Key West in January of 1996.
Old Key West resort boasts the largest DVC rooms on property. The accommodations are spacious, comfortable, cheerful, and perfect for bigger families or longer stays.
Old Key West is located in the Disney Springs resort area. When it comes to the four Disney theme parks, it is closest to Epcot Center.
Disney's Old Key West Refurbishment
Many Walt Disney World Resorts have been undergoing refurbishment lately. From restaurants to villas and everything in between, there's a lot of construction and remodeling happening.
Disney does try to update guests on upcoming refurbishments and closures in advance when possible.
Earlier, we shared that Guests with upcoming July 2026 reservations at Disney's Old Key West were being notified that refurbishment work would take place along the Sassagoula River Cruise boat route during their stay.
Sassagoula River Cruise Closure
Guests were warned that this "may" affect boat transportation. This closure has now been confirmed. The Sassagoula River Cruise will be unavailable to Disney's Old Key West Guests starting July 20 through early August 2026.
Disney will offer complimentary bus transportation to and from Disney Springs during this closure.
If Guests need additional assistance or have questions, they can call 800-800-9800 or 407-566-3800 between the hours of 9:00 am and 9:00 pm (ET) Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, they can call from 9:00 am through 7:00 pm (ET).

I will insist the resort install walk ways to all of the parks and attractions.
Can you imagine the additional traffic on local roadways and the I-4 backup.
Can you imagine a for fee bus or boat ride back to your resort at closing time at Magic Kingdom. Would a scheduled time be selected on your phone for a scheduled ride ?
Chaos and more fights for a Dopey, fun in the sun, monetized transportation offering to select guests who have been warned.
Mears could add stops at parks while guests returning to MCO for an outbound flight if the took the paid routes, what could possible go wrong !
An extra fee for priority boarding on the bus for Deluxe guests.
And rope drop buses for an additional charge, with a line skipping feature for entry to the park at rope drop for Deluxe resort guests.
Perfect class warfare, for a company who insists on equity and equality in all other facets of their utopian vision of what society should look like and accept. I guess THEIR property is the exception to their ideals and beliefs.
Stunning hypocrisy at it's finest.
It goes beyond the charges for transportation which will never happen.
