Disney Issues Update About Peeling Paint on Cinderella Castle

There is nothing like that moment you first catch a glimpse of Cinderella Castle coming into view on Main Street U.S.A. in Walt Disney World. Similarly, there is nothing like that last glance before you head home from the magic, either.

Cinderella Castle has been filling dreamers of all ages with wonder for more than 50 years! Surely it is one of the most photographed icons in the world!

Disney keeps Cinderella Castle looking picture-perfect from any perspective. And part of the magic has to do with the care that goes into paint colors and design details.

Last August, Disney shared that the castle will return to the classic grays, creams, and blues reminiscent of its classic look, complete with touches of gold!

What many Guests were not aware of was that more extensive work was being completed rather than a simple new color scheme of paint.

Many Guests noticed that the iconic roof of Cinderella Castle was beginning to show signs of peeling paint. Thankfully, this issue was addressed during the recent refurbishment.

Reason for the Peeling Paint

According to a recent Disney Parks' "Unscripted" video, the cause of the peeling paint was due to zinc screws. Over time, these screws had a negative chemical reaction and corroded underneath the paint.

Crews worked diligently to replace zinc screws on the roof of Cinderella Castle.
